Bill Maher cheers primary loss of Wisconsin ‘crazy lady’ who hates Thanksgiving

The socialists’ loss was America’s victory, where, unlike the “crazy lady in Wisconsin,” comedian Bill Maher found himself celebrating a recent primary.

Throughout the 2026 election cycle, wins for the likes of Abdul El-Sayed, Darializa Avila Chevalier and others have made the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) takeover of the left appear to be a foregone conclusion. This week, however, the momentum-killing loss for state Assemblymember Francesca Hong was met with all smiles from Maher, who made light of the holiday-hating radical.

During the comedian’s latest monologue on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” he touched on the dramatically inaccurate polling and Hong’s past remarks as he expressed, “Good news for the Democrats, the crazy lady in Wisconsin who hates Thanksgiving lost, by a whisker. Yeah, remember, Francesca Hong up there?”

“She was ahead by 20 points, but then we found out about Thanksgiving. Doesn’t like Thanksgiving,” continued Maher. “Also hates Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, the Fourth of July — it’s actually a good thing she lost, for everybody, considering how much she enjoys celebrating.”

In a further dig at the politician, the host added, “She took it well. She said she just wants to spend more time with her husband, the Grinch.”

Throughout the year, the prominence of Marxist and Islamist ideology within the Democratic Party has seen many prominent figures, including mainstays, signaling their search for the exit of the big tent. Along with the likes of James Carville, Van Jones and Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, Maher himself expressed his openness to Republican candidates looking forward.

During an interview with Vice President J.D. Vance, the host said, “Like, if this is where the Democratic Party is going, where this Democratic socialist — this obsession with Israel, with the Jew-hating, they don’t believe in capitalism, no prisons. If this is where they’re going, my vote is in play.”

Meanwhile, the Mao Zedong-cosplaying mouthpiece of America hatred, Hasan Piker, who giddily stumped for DSA candidates unashamed of his view that the nation deserved the 9/11 terrorist attack, entered a full-blown meltdown the day after Hong lost to David Crowley.

“I don’t want to read this because I will f*cking kill myself with a gun in a video game,” the podcaster said at one point as he found fault with older voters and concerns about electability. “The monkey hanged himself. I’m the monkey. And I’ve been staring too much of the median American voter for the last couple of months. I need a f*cking break. Outlaw Thanksgiving and outlaw boomers.”

Having previously asserted he did not believe Hong meant it when she attempted to walk back her wish to see Thanksgiving canceled, Maher’s dig at the socialist wasn’t the only one past remarks earned her this week, as The Babylon Bee had its own fun. Referring to Hong’s self-expressed woes with “proximity to whiteness” pertaining to her own biracial son, the Bee delivered the headline, “Devastating: Francesca Hong Forced To Return Home And Spend Time With Her White Son.”
