Bill Maher reveals to CNN that Trump ‘yells’ at him over text following their White House dinner

Soon after President Donald Trump called out Bill Maher as a “highly overrated LIGHTWEIGHT,” a CNN interview revealed the talk show host’s communications with the president since their dinner together last year.

Maher told CNN’s Elex Michaelson about his dinner with Trump last March, how the left ripped him over it, and how the president “yells” at him over text messages between them. The interview clip was posted over the weekend, soon after Trump blasted Maher as a “jerk” in a Truth Social post.

The “Real Time” host mocked the “idiots” who stopped watching his HBO show after his dinner with Trump, recounting how “the left got very mad at me” for “accurately” portraying the visit and reiterated that the president is “very different in person.”

“Don’t you get it. He operates everything out of a personal relationship. You have to have a personal relationship,” Maher told Michaelson. “Trust me, he’s not upstairs reading the briefing books.”

“You hear from him sometimes, afterwards, right? Does he text you?” the CNN anchor asked.

“Yes! Yelling at me!” Maher replied.

“What does he say?” Michaelson asked.

“You’re still part of the lunatic left,” Maher said. “He watches, he gets it, that I didn’t change… It’s just better. Because then I can say something back, and it becomes a conversation.”

In a Truth Social message posted just before the clips of Maher were shared online, Trump declared, “Sometimes in life you waste time!”

He recounted his “great” dinner with the comedian and talk show host who “seemed to be a nice guy.”

However, the president went on to note that “for his first show after our dinner, he was very respectful about our meeting,” but Maher soon “started to devolve into the same old story” rather than admit the administration’s many accomplishments.

“Fortunately, his Television Ratings are so low that nobody will learn about his various Fake News statements about me. He is no different than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert but, I must admit, slightly more talented!” Trump wrote in the lengthy post.

“Anyway, Bill Maher is a highly overrated LIGHTWEIGHT, and Republicans should stop using him to show how the Left is coming over our way — Our Base, the Greatest of All Time, laughs at your weakness when you do it!” Trump wrote.

“Bill continues to suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS!), and there is nothing that will ever be done to cure him of this very serious disease. Thank you for your attention to this minor matter!” he concluded.
