Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg squirmed when pressed by Bill Maher about the lack of accountability from the administration after an assassination attempt on former President Donald J. Trump.
The DEI hire appeared on the latest edition of HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” and during the show, was put on the spot by the old-school liberal comic over why Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle hadn’t been fired after her agency’s near history-altering failure.

“Should Joe Biden have fired the Secret Service head?” Maher asked. “I mean, I don’t understand that.”
“I’m not in on all the details of the Homeland Security side,” Buttigieg replied. “I know there’s a really serious after-action report and process and a whole lot of scrutiny going on there. I think that everything that led up to that moment, that horrible moment is under a microscope, and I believe that President Biden and the administration will do the right thing.”
“Well, you didn’t need a microscope to see it,” Maher shot back, cutting through the B.S. that the regime apparatchik was spewing. “The guy was on the roof, you know, like like not that far away with a rifle for a long time.”
“I’ve seen people fired for less, and it just looks bad,” the host added. “It looks like, ‘Well, the other guy from the other party got shot. Well, we’ll look into it, if we have time.’”
“I think it’s that when something of this gravity happens, so you don’t just dash off a decision, you do a comprehensive process to find every single piece of anything that could go wrong,” Buttigieg replied, making excuses for his boss.
“And then there’s going to be accountability and there’s going to be change. I’m sure of that. Again, I’m not in the middle of that obviously, that’s not my lane, but I know that’s what’s going to happen,” he said.
The lack of action after the near miss and the absence of urgency from the administration isn’t exactly helping with the perception of many that things just don’t add up, especially the failure of the Secret Service to do its job by not allowing a sniper to set up a position on a rooftop with a clear shot at the opposition party leader.
Being that hardcore Trump hater that he is, Maher just couldn’t resist attacking those – including the target – for suggesting that God himself miraculously saved the former president from being assassinated.
“There is not even an assassination attempt that can’t be made just a little worse by adding religion,” Maher said the “New Rules” segment of his show which first aired on Friday. “Since the bullet that was meant for Donald Trump missed him last Saturday, Republicans have been indulging in an orgy of magical thinking.”

“My point is, that Donald Trump, even if you like him, is powerful enough as a past president, a likely future president and to be perfectly frank, a cult leader,” he added. “America doesn’t need a Demi-God.”
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness,” Trump said on Truth Social after the bullet that was intended to blow his head off only grazed his ear.
