Biochemist at Meatstock calls Americans ‘the sickest people on the planet’

Meat-lovers gathered in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for Meatstock, sharing their love of keto and carnivore diets.

Participants were able to speak with vendors and attend panel discussions and presentations from experts like Texas biochemist and author Nathan Bryan, who spoke to Fox News Digital in the wake of the event.

“Americans are the sickest people on the planet,” he said bluntly. “Nine out of 10 Americans are metabolically unfit, two out of three Americans have an unsafe elevation of blood pressure and nearly half of the people in America are diabetic or pre-diabetic. That can be attributed to the foods we eat.”

The biochemist revealed that he was inspired by some of the stories that he heard at Meatstock, where people shared how they lost weight, their health improved, and some even boasted that they were able to cure autoimmune diseases with their meat-based diets.

“What I found at Meatstock was people who eat mainly just a meat-based diet, high protein and really good fats with limited or no carbs or plants,” he explained to the outlet. “These people seem to be the healthiest, and then they’re able to reverse disease without drug therapy.”

While critics argue that any evidence of a primarily meat-based diet being beneficial to one’s health is largely anecdotal, Bryan says he was intrigued by the information that was presented at Meatstock.

“I come from academia as a former professor of medicine. So I put a lot of emphasis on the science and clinical data behind [these diets], and it was impressive.”
