A black North Carolina father and businessman who’s running for a seat in the North Carolina House made quite a splash during an N.C. school board hearing Monday when he tore into the precepts and doctrines of racial essentialism piece by piece.
But unlike most of the school board hearings that have made headlines in recent days, weeks and months, this one wasn’t a contentious one at all.
In fact, House District 73 candidate Brian Echevarria appeared before the Cabarrus County Schools Board of Education to thank them for outlawing the teaching of critical race theory in a nondiscrimination resolution that was passed last summer.
As previously reported, critical race theory (CRT) is a code word for racial essentialism.
“One of the things I wanted to thank you for tonight was the resolution the non-discrimination resolution — the CRT deal — because it’s happening, and as a parent, I speak to other parents, there’s a few things that we don’t want,” Echevarria said.
What made Echevarria’s speech newsworthy was his impassioned defense of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr’s belief that people ought to be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.
Listen from the 1:47:37 mark below:
“I’m bi-racial, I’m bilingual, I’m multicultural. The fact is in America and North Carolina, I can do anything I want, and I teach that to my children. And the person who tells my little pecan-color kids that they’re somehow oppressed based on the color of their skin would be absolutely wrong and absolutely at war with me,” he said.
“And I think that’s the same for every parent. What the mask showed us is that the parents are the most powerful group of people in our country and that they’re taking back the wheel.”
A week earlier, the board had voted to make face masks optional for students and staff, in response to an overwhelming outcry from parents:
Wearing masks inside Cabarrus County Schools buildings is optional for all students and staff effective Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

“Now obviously, we had to take the wheel back for the mask, but we’re taking the wheel back from Washington, all the way to Raleigh, and into our local school board,” Echevarria continued, referencing N.C.’s capital city.
“Because CRT, all of that, the parents don’t want it. It’s a big, fat lie. If you believe in CRT, I want to tell you you’re a liar, because that means you look at your black neighbor and say that they’re oppressed, and you look at your white neighbor and say that they’re evil, regardless of the experience that you’ve had with them. And we’re not going to do that,” he said.
“The parents in the United States of America, right here in North Carolina and Cabarrus County, we know that’s not true, because we believe the lives we live. The fact is I’ve been a business owner right here in North Carolina, and I deal with white people, black people, Hispanic people. My children deal with everybody.”
The next thing he said was a real humdinger: “The racism is only happening at the government level and on the media. The fact is you have racists, and you can’t even find them hardly — you just hear the stories about them.”
And even then, most of the stories are false, in that the people whom the media claim are “racist” are usually not actually racist:

The odd irony is that the actual racism is usually practiced by the media itself:
Example 1: BuzzFeed calls to ‘Deplatform White Parents’, blames press for legitimizing criticism of CRT
Example 2: ‘Shocked and a bit embarrassed’ for him: Lib media triggered by Scott rebuttal, ‘Uncle Tim’ trends
Example 3: ‘Whiteness is a pandemic’: Journos fuel racism against whites after massage parlor shooting
Example 4: ‘Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read’: CNN guest declares artist too stupid to meet with Trump
Concluding his remarks, Echevarria then switched his focus away from CRT and toward the wider trend of left-wing radicalism being injected into schools by specifically zeroing in on radical transgender ideology.
“I have an 8-year-old daughter who is absolutely dynamic, who can do anything athletically, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally. She is a dynamo, and I don’t want a man swimming against her in the pool. The fact is I don’t want her playing against boys in soccer. I don’t even let my sons rough her up. Do you think I’m going to let your son rough her up?” he said.
“This is what we’re talking about, policy going back to the parents, because if you think people who love America aren’t willing to fight for it, you haven’t met parents yet. Because I’m telling you, parents will go further down any street than anyone who loves their country alone. My name is Brian Echevarria. I thank you for your service, and we’re taking back the wheel.”

What remains to be seen is how long it’ll take The Washington Post to publish a story suggesting that he’s an “Uncle Tom” just like they did earlier this week to black Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas …
So the Washington Post just casually refers to Clarence Thomas as an Uncle Tom and it’s just something that the rest of the journalists just let happen without speaking out. It’s just a thing that happens and they are fine with it. https://t.co/XDg9L8dWNo
