Black GOP lawmaker interrupted by ‘enraged’ protester yelling ‘racist’ until he’s forcibly removed

U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas) had a no-nonsense response to an enraged Iowa protester who accused former President Trump of being racist just before he was hauled out of the gymnasium.

“Tonight, at the Timberline Caucus, as I spoke on behalf of President Trump an enraged man attempted to stop my speech,” Hunt wrote on X Monday night. “He shouted Trump was ‘racist.’ You know, the same tired trope we’ve heard over and over again.

“But on this day, of all days, Martin Luther King Day, the people of Iowa, just like President Trump judge me not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character. The anti-Trump movement is in full blown meltdown,” he declared.

The Texan was campaigning for Trump before the Iowa caucus took place which the former president won by almost 30 points in a landslide victory among Republicans.

“How can a black man do this on Martin Luther King Day?” the unhinged protester screamed at Hunt, interrupting him.

“The man accused Hunt of ‘degrading himself’ and ‘turning his back’ on Black people as he attempted to confront Hunt before being held back by other members of the audience,” Fox News reported.

As he railed at Hunt, who had stopped his speech mid-sentence, the heckler was subdued and forcibly removed from the room by members of the audience. That move was met with loud applause.

“I come from a district in Houston, Texas that’s a majority white district and I won by 30 points,” Hunt told the audience after the protester was booted. “Because on days like this, I realize I am literally being judged not by the color of my skin but on the content of my character.”

“And when I walk in rooms like this, I don’t see race, religion, color, or creed. I see my fellow Americans that must join together in this fight to save our country. And the same loyalty that we have to is the same loyalty that I have seen from President Trump,” he told the Trump supporters.

He closed his speech with a heartwarming story about his little girl and the former president.

“And I will end with one quick story. Talk about this one. We go to the Iowa State Fair every year, and my five-year-old daughter loves President Trump. She saw President Trump standing in the distance. I tapped him on the shoulder,” Hunt recounted.

“I said, Mr. President, I want you to meet my five-year-old daughter. He said, well, where is she? And he looked down and saw her. He scooped her up, looked at her, and said, you are a beautiful little girl, and you can be whatever you want in this world, and your daddy loves you,” he added.

“And he sat her back down, looked at me, and said, Mr. Hunt, she’s going to be somebody in this world. Immediately, I realized this guy’s a grandpa. He is doing this because he has grandkids too. And that’s why he is fighting to save the soul of our nation– not just for me, not just for you, not for my kids, not for his grandkids but for our future,” Hunt stated.

“I encourage you all to support Donald John Trump. Thank you so much, and God bless you,” he said ending his talk with Iowans while urging them to re-elect the former president.
