Blue state governor declares ‘Abortion Provider Appreciation Day’

A blue state governor’s spotlight on abortion also helped dispel the shadows on second fiddle constituent complaints.

Despite the failings of the 2024 election cycle, leftists continue to dig their heels in on radical positions outside the priority of most voters. For Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek (D), not only did that mean holding fast to funding baby murder but also celebrating the practitioners with their own “Appreciation Day.”

In a statement on the proclamation marking March 10 as “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day,” Kotek expressed, “Here in Oregon, we understand that abortion is healthcare, and providers are appreciated and can continue to provide care without interference and intimidation.”

“To our providers and to the patients who live in Oregon or have been forced to retreat to our state for care, know that I continue to have your back,” she went on as data from the Oregon Health Authority boasted over 10,000 abortions in the state in 2023, including over 1,600 for people from out of state “reflecting a nearly 60% increase from the prior year.”

“Oregon’s abortion providers deliver essential health care services with courage, compassion, and dedication. This month, we recognize their role in our essential health care continuum in Oregon,” the governor added on X with thanks and images of her signing the proclamation flanked by smiling proponents of unborn baby murder that included representatives of Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), the aptly-named Lilith Clinic and affiliates of Planned Parenthood from across the Beaver State.

Following the June 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade with the Supreme Court’s decision of Dobb’s v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Kotek signed the Access to Reproductive Health Care law, HB 2002, in 2023 that provided for state funding in support of clinical partners and organizations as well as allowing for minors to get an abortion or genital mutilation without parental consent.

Amplifying the sentiments of their constituents, Republicans of the Oregon Senate used a meme to respond to the governor’s proclamation, calling out her apparent priorities with the comment, “Fix crime? Fix schools? Fix affordability? Nah… Kotek declares ‘Abortion Provider Appreciation Day’ instead.”

Of course, as previously reported, Oregon has demonstrated that compliance with the zeitgeist took precedence over marked accomplishments as the state’s second-in-command at the Oregon Department of Forestry was removed from duty during wildfire season over accusations that gender and identity were of no concern to him in hiring as he sought the most qualified candidates.

Regarding HB 2002, Oregon Republican Party Chairman Justin Hwang previously told Fox News Digital, “This bill represents a new low for Oregon and an even bigger loss for children and parents.”

“Imagine being a father or mother who finds out that their child has made a life-changing decision without any consent or notification,” he added, having said, “HB2002 is what happens when progressive politicians and their far-left base put woke ideology ahead of common sense.”
