BMW UK announces exit from Musk-owned X, didn’t see the brutal mocking in its headlights

Despite not being an airport, some users still feel the need to announce their departure from X. This almost always results in mockery, and BMW UK’s latest message is no exception.

On January 22nd, the company posted its intent to stop posting on the Elon Musk-owned platform, providing no real explanation for doing so and directing users to Meta platforms Facebook and Instagram for the latest news.

On its website, the company actually addressed its German lineage and some uncomfortable moments in history, apologizing for its part in utilizing “forced labor” but making no real mention or condemnation of Adolph Hitler or the Nazis.

“During the war, the company management exhibited no moral scruples in making widespread use of forced labor and prisoners in concentration camps in order to comply with the production figures laid down by the authorities. These people had to work under terrible conditions and many died of hunger and exhaustion,” they wrote. “BMW bears a substantial share of the burden of responsibility for these events and undoubtedly incurred a burden of guilt in committing these crimes.”

The replies were locked, preventing users from shredding the company in the comments. This, however, did not stop people from mocking the luxury automobile manufacturer.
