Momeni allegedly got into it with Lee over whether he was doing “anything inappropriate” with his sister, according to new court documents that were released on Friday and obtained by KRON4.

The suspect was arrested at his Emeryville home, charged with murder, and booked into a San Francisco jail on Thursday. To ensure Momeni remains behind bars without bail, prosecutors filed court documents containing grisly details about the murder.

Police believe that Momeni and the murdered tech entrepreneur talked on the phone about his sister, Khazar Momeni, before Lee was brutally stabbed to death in the early morning hours of April 4 on the streets of San Francisco.

Momeni is Iranian and has a bit of a sketchy history. Prosecutors want to nail him on first-degree murder over the stabbing death of Lee.

An unnamed witness came forward and told police that Momeni grilled Lee about his relationship with his sister, who is married to a prominent plastic surgeon. He asked Lee if he was “doing drugs or anything inappropriate.”

Lee reportedly told Momeni that nothing inappropriate happened. The sister was not named in the court documents and police are not commenting on the potential relationship between Lee and Khazar Momeni.

The witness told police that they were unsure if Lee and the sister had an “intimate relationship.”

Lee was the father of two young girls. He was estranged from his wife when he was killed and had recently moved from California to Florida with his father.

Prosecutors contend that Momeni drove Lee to a “dark and secluded area” of San Francisco where he stabbed him three times, once through the heart with a kitchen knife.

Police state that Momeni brought the knife with him from his home which makes it evident that the murder was “planned and deliberate.”

The sister texted Lee around the time he was stabbed to death to check on him, court documents claim.

“Just wanted to make sure your doing ok Cause I know nima came wayyyyyy down hard on you,” she texted Lee. “And thank you for being such a class man handling it with class. Love you Selfish pricks.”

Momeni was taken into custody following an intense investigation, according to the New York Post. He made his first appearance in court on Friday but did not enter a plea because his attorney is out of town. His sister and her husband attended the hearing and he flashed a heart sign at her. She responded with the same sentiment.

The IT consultant is set to be formally arraigned on April 25 and could get more than 20 years in prison if he is convicted. He faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life if found guilty on all charges.

The events of what went on during the final hours of Lee’s life are still fuzzy. He evidently went to the sister’s multi-million dollar high-rise apartment during the afternoon of April 3. They reportedly drank with a witness whom Lee had known for a decade and someone else who lived in the apartment. Officers have searched the apartment.

Lee then reportedly went back to his hotel room where records indicate he spoke with Momeni on the phone. The witness and Lee then went to the Cash App founder’s apartment.

At 12:30 am, Lee left his apartment but the witness remained there. Lee never returned.

When he didn’t come back, the witness called the sister wondering where Lee was. She said Lee had come over but only stayed “for a second.” She claims she fell asleep and didn’t know where he went.

Video footage confirms the sister’s statement and it shows Lee and Momeni on an elevator at 2:03 am. The two then got into the alleged killer’s white BMW.

Grainy video footage then captured Lee and Momeni standing outside the BMW for approximately five minutes in a deserted part of the wealthy Rincon Hills neighborhood. Police believe that is when he stabbed Lee “three separate times,” twice in the chest and once in the hip. The charge was made in a motion by prosecutors in order to hold the suspect without bail.

“One of the wounds, showing a direct and clear intent to kill, penetrated the victim’s heart,” Assistant District Attorney Omid Talai asserted.

Additional footage shows Lee walking away after being stabbed and Momeni walking near the area where the murder weapon was found. The footage is not very good and does not show either man’s face.

After that, the white BMW took off at high speed according to police. They contend that Momeni simply left Lee there “to slowly die.”
