Boebert takes action to stop Biden’s outrageous ‘disinformation’ board right in its tracks

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert is being loudly lauded by conservatives for her quick-thinking decision to draft legislation to disband and defund the Biden administration’s newly created Disinformation Governance Board.

Dubbed the Protecting Free Speech Act, the legislation would, if signed into law, both “terminate” the board and also defund “any other entity that is substantially similar” in its mission to censor and silence so-called “disinformation.”

“The Disinformation Governance Board of the Department of Homeland Security is hereby terminated. … No Federal funds authorized to be appropriated or otherwise made available to the Department of Homeland Security may be made available to establish any other entity that is substantially similar to the Disinformation Governance Board,” the legislation reads.

While the bill stands little chance of making it through the Democrat-controlled Congress, let alone being signed into law by President Joe Biden, Boebert’s decision to draft it signals that at least one member of the GOP is willing to fight back, even if said efforts ultimately prove fruitless.

In a statement to Fox News, the Colorado lawmaker expressed hope that GOP leadership will follow her example.

“This kind of stuff is terrifying. We in Congress have the power of the purse. It is our duty to shut down this department immediately. I’m calling on leadership in the Republican Party — Leader [Kevin] McCarthy, Whip [Steve] Scalise and others — to join me in calling for this department to be shut down and defunded,” she said.

In fairness to McCarthy and Scalise, both have been tweeting about the “Orwellian Ministry of Truth,” as they call it:

It’s unclear, however, what substantive actions, if any, they’ve taken to stop the board.

Meanwhile, all 19 GOP members of the House Oversight Committee submitted a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday demanding access to “all documents and communications” pertaining to the board’s creation.

In addition to demanding access, the lawmakers also took the Biden administration to task for wanting to suppress so-called “disinformation” and “misinformation” when it itself has been the disseminator of so many false claims and narratives.

“High-level Administration officials have perpetuated demonstrably false claims,  including promoting the false narrative that the Hunter Biden laptop story was Russian disinformation and that Border Patrol Agents were whipping Haitian migrants. Rather than correct its false narratives and focus on the serious threats facing the homeland—including the crisis on our southern border—the Administration continues to falsely accuse political opponents of spreading misinformation,” the scathing letter reads.

“In most circumstances, the Administration’s definition of ‘misinformation’ is any fact or opinion that is critical of its abysmal policies and decisions. The United States’ internal security apparatus must serve to protect the American people from threats to the homeland, not be weaponized by an unpopular President to push false narratives and discredit lawful discourse.”

According to reporting from Benny Johnson, the GOP has “plans to deciimate Joe Biden’s Ministry of Truth.”

“They are not just going for ‘defunding,’ this is an all-out war footing. Impeachments, congressional hearings, public humiliation of people behind it, harsh laws AGAINST this ever happening again,” he revealed in tweets posted Friday.

He abstained from naming names, but he did mention legislation “being drafted as we speak to Defund the Joe Biden Ministry of Truth,” which clearly was a reference to Boebert’s bill.

He also mentioned impeachments, and it just so happens that the Colorado lawmaker has been calling for Mayorkas to be impeached:

Regarding her legislation, she intends to introduce it next week after she first collects a couple co-sponsors.

“No tax dollars should go to where Biden can use the power of the federal government to silence truthful stories like Big Tech did with the Hunter Biden story. … This really is a department of propaganda. To say that the federal department has a say in what’s right and what’s wrong. What’s truth and what is not. This is a very dangerous place that we’ve come to,” she said in additional remarks to Fox News.
