Bond denial of only black Trump co-defender sparks online fury: ‘Why the hell they keep the Black man?’

Of the 19 co-defendants charged in Georgia’s 2020 election fraud RICO case, only one person — Harrison Floyd, the former director of “Black Voices for Trump” — was denied a bond a remains in jail, and folks on social media are screaming about it.

As BizPac Review reported, Judge Emily Richardson told Floyd that he was a potential flight risk, denied him a public defender, and remanded him to the Fulton County Jail, sparking outrage among X users who are demanding to know why the black man is the only one among such names as former President Donald Trump, Jenna Ellas, and Rudy Giuliani to remain in custody.

“These Democrats really are showing us how racist they are,” stated former Hip-Hop executive Dom Lucre. “Why the hell they keep the Black man?”

At his first hearing on Friday, Harrison told the judge that he could not afford the excessive attorney fees, claiming that the lawyers he’d spoken to cost between $40,000 and $100,000.

“I can’t put my family in that kind of debt,” he told Richardson, adding that he was denied a public defender.

Richardson remained unconcerned, informing him that Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee “will go through the process if you choose to represent yourself and to not retain a lawyer. He will go through that process and those questions with you.”

Floyd denied that he was a flight risk.

“There’s no way that I’m a flight risk, ma’am,” he said after his bond was denied. “I showed up before the president was here.”

Richardson stated that one of the reasons she had denied bond to Floyd was that there was a pending case against him for allegedly assaulting a federal officer.

According to the affidavit, Floyd allegedly yelled expletives at a pair of FBI special agents who served him with a federal grand jury subpoena, then chest-bumped and ultimately body-slammed one of them as they were leaving his Maryland home.

“I do find that based on the open charge against you there are grounds for bond to be denied at this point,” Richardson told Floyd. “So I’m going to go ahead and find that you are at risk to commit additional felonies and a potential risk to flee the jurisdiction.”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) called for his followers to donate to Floyd’s legal defense fund.

“Why did Fani Willis leave a black man in jail over this?” he asked. “He needs to be released immediately.”

Considering the money former President Donald Trump is generating from his mugshot alone, many wondered why he isn’t stepping up to cover Floyd’s legal fees.

Others wondered why Black Lives Matter hasn’t stepped up.

“Dems are the party of the KKK. Wake up & exit that evil party,” stated one user on X. “Liberal judge denies bail to Harrison Floyd ONLY. Every white person was released on bond. Harrison is sitting in jail!”

“Democrats are STILL racists. Fight for Floyd’s Freedom!” the user exclaimed. “Where’s BLM & the protests?”

And still more people see Richardson’s ruling as retaliation for a black man’s support of Trump.

“Democrats are going to make an example out of Harrison Floyd, a United States Marine veteran,” said another user on X. “This is what happens when black people step away from the democrat plantation.”

The date for Floyd’s next court appearance has not yet been set.
