Brandon Johnson suggests it’s not his job to catch criminal illegal aliens

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson all but declared that it’s not his job to catch criminal illegal alien sex offenders in his city.

A reporter asked the far-left mayor about President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, having immediate success in coming to Chicago, asking Johnson why he can’t have the same success.

“Tom Homan came to Chicago and within 24 hours found a criminal illegal alien convicted sex offender who was living here since 2009. Why can’t you do that?” the reporter asked.

“Because that’s their job,” Johnson replied. “That is their job. The federal government has a responsibility to make sure that individuals who are undocumented, who have been charged with and convicted of a crime, it is the federal government’s responsibility to do their part and uphold the law.”

“Our local police department, along with our public health department, along with our other sister agencies, are working to build a better, stronger, safer Chicago, and as we’ve stated repeatedly, those critical investments- you continue to see the results as violent crime continues to fall in Chicago,” Johnson filibustered, when the reporter pressed him on the matter.

The problem being that for Democrats like Johnson, a “safer” city includes illegal aliens being safe from accountability and deportation.

As for the possibility that Chicagoans might yet learn that elections have consequences, keep in mind that they elected Johnson after electing Lori Lightfoot.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
