Likening a current conflict to WWII found Tucker Carlson questioning an Allied nation’s involvement in the first place.
“… I’m certainly not defending Hitler …”

Friday, the former Fox News host dropped his latest interview, where he spoke with a former member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. As GB News’ Jacob Rees-Mogg recently encouraged the British to “go out and do their duty” should a war arise, Carlson confronted the Conservative Party member with the question, “why fight the Second World War in the first place?”
Debating mutually assured destruction in the Cold War and whether or not the use of nuclear weapons on Japan was justified in WWII, the conversation shifted to civilian casualties as Rees-Mogg suggested, “I think it’s very difficult to have fought the Second World War without innocent people being killed.”
“No one tried … I’ve never understood, why fight the Second World War in the first place?” asked the host as his guest remarked, “Well, that’s a very fundamental question.”
“Hitler would’ve taken as much as he could’ve done, as he was showing. And did you really want him-” furthered the politician who has supported aiding Ukraine against Russia since 2022, before Carlson cut in, “Well, Hitler said that 15% of Poland was once Germany and it was given to Poland at the Treaty of Versailles. That was German territory with Germans in it. That was his case. And by the way, that was true.”
Another interjection came as Rees-Mogg said, “Except the Polish borders had been cut up by-” which found the host contending, “Look, I’m not here — I’m certainly not defending Hitler. I’m just saying the idea that Hitler just randomly rolled into Poland is a lie, and everyone believes it because they know nothing about the actual facts. But the truth is, Germany had big pieces of it carved off, including part of Prussia, and it was given to this other country. It infuriated the Germans. Maybe it shouldn’t have, but it did. And that was the justification for it. The U.K. had nothing to do with it at all.”
The back and forth quickened as the guest said, “Well, we had a treaty of alliance,” to which Carlson argued, “They destroyed their empire and their country fighting this war that they still pretend was a good idea, but it wasn’t.”
“It was fundamental. It was the classic good vs. evil,” came the one-time business secretary’s response.
“Has the U.K. benefitted from it?” asked the host.
“We did the right thing,” maintained Rees-Mogg, who was then asked, “Is it a better country than it was?”
“To have defeated Hitler? Yes.”
“So, the U.K. is a better country now? It’s a healthier country now,” pressed Carlson as his guest reminded him what the likely conclusion would have been had the Allies let the Nazis act uncontested. “Otherwise, we’d be speaking German.”
Focused on that point rather than the suggestion that Nazi rule would have overtaken Europe, the host replied, “Who cares?”
Rees-Mogg’s assurance that he cares was met with a reminder, “There are a lot of people in Britain who can’t speak English. So, it would be nice to have, like, at least a European language spoken in your country.”
“No, I see no advantage speaking German over any other language. We want to speak English, thank you so much,” added the guest who went on defending his nation’s sovereignty.
Carlson’s remarks on WWII drew considerable blowback on social media as figures like Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee weighed in, with the latter saying, “When it seemed impossible for Toxic Tucker to descend deeper into the sewer here he goes opining that UK should have let Nazis take over. Forget that Hitler murdered 11 million people? I thought Tucker was against killing? He needs help. Serious help.”

Yes, Tucker, the UK is better off for winning WWII.
America is better off for winning WWII.
And the world would be much worse off if the Nazis had won WWII.
This is not complicated. https://t.co/bIvh3RaeU0

Wow Tucker got schooled. He doesn’t belong in sophisticated debate anymore and looked like a stooge for Putin.
