Every time you think the world couldn’t get more upside-down and backward, someone in the mainstream media proves you wrong.
On Friday’s edition of “CBS Mornings,” host John Dickerson said Tennessee Republicans should expect violence after they voted to expel Democratic Reps. Justin Jones and Justin Pearson for taking part in a gun control protest that resulted in activists storming the state Capitol building.
After a transgender shooter killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville before she was fatally shot by police, protestors gathered at the Capitol and disrupted the session in what looked pretty much to everyone like an attempted insurrection — at least by the Dems’ own standards.

Rather than run for cover or gnash their teeth, Jones and Pearson joined in on the action.
In voting to expel their unruly colleagues, Dickerson said that “punching back” is the only logical response Republicans can expect from the left.
“Politics needs some cartilage,” he explained. “It needs some give. It can’t be totally brittle.”
The anchor said Republicans could have chosen other ways to punish the Democratic lawmakers for breaking decorum and stepping out of line, but they chose the “maximalist” option.
“When you go to the maximalist, when you kick them out, that’s brittle,” he said. “There is no give.”
“When there’s no give,” he continued, “the only way the other side gets to respond is by punching back.”
“And so when you lose those interim steps, all you get is response and response and response,” Dickerson said. “And… you know where that leads, right? That leads to violence.”
CBS's John Dickerson warns that Tennessee Republicans left "no give" for liberals by expelling Dems, which means they should get ready to be victims of violence.

So, just to recap, if you’re a Republican and protest what you believe was a stolen election, it’s as though the Civil War and 9/11 had a Democracy-killing baby, but if you’re a Democrat and you literally storm into a full chamber and bring the session to a standstill, it’s up to Republicans to offer a well-measured talking to and a whole lot of “give” so they don’t trigger a totally understandable, completely predictable violent outburst.
Understanding that very simple truth, Dickerson said, “is the reason this question of Democracy is so important and the reason faith in the judicial system is so important.”
“We’re at a moment,” he said, “where — more on the conservative side, but on both sides — you have people who think, ‘This system isn’t working. We’ve got to effect change outside of the system through violence.'”
Meanwhile, it appears Knoxville Democratic Rep. Gloria Johnson is feeling left out.
She was the only one not to be expelled over her actions, and she wanted the press to know it’s probably because she’s white — because race-baiting in an already divisive situation is yet another totally understandable, completely predictable Democratic response.

Johnson fell just one vote short of getting the boot.
“It might have to do with the color of our skin,” she told a reporter following the vote.
