Cenk Uygur rails against ‘intensely selfish’ Biden, calls for him to drop out

Cracks are slowly beginning to appear in the Democrat dam of unity as two recent polls show that Americans are sick and tired of Joe Biden and his disastrous policies, and one prominent progressive pundit is calling on the “intensely selfish” career politician to drop out of the presidential race.

Breaking free from party lockstep in the aftermath of a devastating CNN poll showing that Biden’s popularity ratings are underwater and sinking fast was Cenk Uygur, the volatile founder of “The Young Turks” podcast who tore into the bumbling cadaverous leader and his ego.

On Friday, Uygur took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to note that two-thirds of Democrat voters want a change at the head of the party next year, also pointing out the proverbial elephant in the living room that the Washington, D.C. establishment is intolerant of dissent, a remarkable statement in that it comes from a left-winger.

“Joe Biden says he is running for president again. So what? Why does every Democrat have to listen to him? Why is it assumed by everyone in Washington that dissent isn’t allowed against someone in power? What a weird assumption. I don’t agree. 2/3 of Democratic voters don’t agree,” he wrote.

Uygur also posted a link to a petition calling for Biden to give up the ghost on his five-decades long career as a D.C. swamp creature.

“President Joe Biden has had a long and historied career in American government. He rescued us from the possibility of a second Trump term and we appreciate his service to the country. But at this point in time, we must have a strong, healthy candidate to make sure we avoid a fascist takeover of our government. Dear Mr. President, please do the right thing and bow out with dignity, so we can move on to the next generation of Democratic leaders – and so that we can defeat Donald Trump and the radical Republicans,” the poll by TYT staff reads.

In another blast at Biden, the pundit returned to X on Saturday to hammer the “intensely selfish” president for not stepping aside.

“I’ll say the thing that no one else is willing to say. Joe Biden is being intensely selfish by running again. He’s putting his ego above the interests of his party and his country,” he wrote.

One name that has continued to be tossed about should Biden not run again for some reason is California Governor Gavin Newsom, an ambitious man who has been lurking in the weeds and waiting to pounce despite his coyness about assuming that party’s mantle from the ancient Biden.

But Newsom hasn’t impressed Uygur’s TYT co-host Ana Kasparian who scoffed at the idea that the Sacramento slickster is the heir apparent.

“California is *without question* a sh*t show under Newsom. But I guess propping up proven failures is what the Democratic party excels at these days,” she wrote on X.

The CNN poll served as an exclamation point on an earlier Wall Street Journal survey that rocked the political establishment, showing a supermajority of Democrats believe that the deeply unpopular octogenarian is just too old to serve a second White House term.
