Charlamagne tha God sees sinister conspiracy in cuts to Pentagon brass

Talk radio personality Charlamagne tha God is a veritable fountain of zany conspiracy theories, and he has joined in with those speculating that cuts at the top levels of the Pentagon could have a sinister meaning.

In his “State of the Force” address on Wednesday, War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced a proposal to reduce positions reserved for admirals and generals by 20 percent in a push for “less generals, more GIs” intended to shift resources to frontline troops in a major overhaul.

Hegseth’s announcement sent the Trump-phobic conspiracy theorists scrambling for their tinfoil hats, with the “Breakfast Club” host opining that the ranks are being purged of personnel not loyal to the president, suggesting that the moves are being made to undermine “democracy” so that Trump can stay in power.

On Thursday’s edition of the nationally syndicated show, which reaches a huge black audience, the host uncorked his latest wild theory about Trump.

“That’s scary because they are probably getting rid of people who don’t want to be Trump loyalists,” he said. “Because if you really want to overthrow an election, you really want to undermine democracy; you really don’t plan to leave the White House in a couple of years, you use the military to overthrow that said democracy.”

Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey, disagreed with a caller to the show who claimed that Hegseth’s downsizing has a racial aspect and is being done “just to get rid of black people.”

“I don’t think it’s just about black people. I mean, it is about black people, but I think it’s about Trump loyalists, man…, “he said. “If you ask me, I think they’re gonna try to use the military to overthrow elections, and when Trump decides he doesn’t wanna leave the White House in a couple of years, he’ll have the military on his side.”

The self-described “YouTube conspiracy theorist” later somewhat walked it back.

“What’s logical to me is that the Trump administration is removing senior military leadership while also openly talking about getting rid of people associated with ‘wokeness,’ which is an ideology it opposes,” Charlamagne said. “Now, that, ladies and gentlemen, creates a dangerous message inside the military, and that message is simply: loyalty to the Constitution may not be enough anymore. So, officers might start believing that loyalty to the president is how you survive.”

“YouTube conspiracy theorist in me comes back and says, ‘Yes! That loyalty to the president and not the Constitution is what will cause them to steal the midterms and help Trump stay in power in 2028,’” he added.

The host also recently shared another conspiracy theory that Trump could nuke Iran before the midterm elections.

“Donald Trump is gonna escalate this situation in Iran right before the midterms, I’m telling you right now. We’re not gonna have a normal election. There will be a huge disruption, and it’s gonna be centered around this Iran war. If you ever didn’t want a president to have the nuclear codes, it’s right now,” he predicted during a “Breakfast Club” episode in late September.
