Chicago police officers reportedly threatened and battered by migrants amid increasing clashes

Several migrants in the Chicago area have been arrested this week for reportedly threatening or battering local police officers, particularly those at the 12th District police station.

The drama started to unfold Tuesday morning around 9:45 am, when migrant Juan Marquez Vielma, 20, allegedly threatened an officer at the station, after which he was arrested and charged with trespassing and assault, both misdemeanors, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

About an hour later around 11:00 am, another 20-year-old migrant, Ana Rondon, allegedly battered an officer at the station but then fled the scene. She was later found, apprehended, and charged with battery that afternoon.

A day later on Wednesday, two additional migrants were arrested for bad behavior.

“About 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, a man allegedly took police equipment from the station, in the 1400 block of South Blue Island Avenue on the Near West Side, and attempted to flee, Chicago police said. Another person then battered a pursuing officer,” the Times reported.

“Both suspects were taken into custody, and charges were pending, police said. The officer who was battered was taken to a hospital in good condition,” according to the Times.

All this comes amid an influx of migrants/illegal aliens, some of whom are now being housed in Chicago’s police station, including the 12th District station.

“Chicago says it has received 13,000 migrants since Texas and others began bussing them to blue cities last year. The city’s shelters are full. Many are sleeping at police stations, and when those fill up, they sleep outside,” NPR reported last week.

The migrants reportedly aren’t happy about their living situation.

“Migrants at the 12th District … said they’ve been forced to wake up at 5 a.m. to leave the building and stand outside on the sidewalk without belongings for hours. They say police told them the lobby needed to be cleaned, but when they were allowed back into the building, they say there was no discernible sign that there had been any sort of cleaning,” station WGN reported Wednesday.

The migrants are also having issues among themselves.

“Chicago police are investigating after a migrant living in the lobby of the Near West (12th) District police station was threatened with a knife, beaten, and knocked unconscious, possibly by rival migrants who live in a nearby park,” an outlet calling itself CWB Chicago reported last Thursday.

Something similar happened earlier in August when an argument between two migrants housed at the Grand Crossing District police station turned violent.

“Both men were using a bathroom at the station when the argument began, leading 23-year-old Jorge Goyo to put his hand over the neck of the 48-year-old while he told the older man that ‘he had killed people in the past,’ prosecutors said in court,” the Times reported.

“Goyo pulled out a 3-inch knife and chased the older man to the front of the police station and at some point stabbed him in the thigh, prosecutors said. When officers removed Goyo from the station they allegedly saw him holding a bloody knife and placed him in custody,” according to the Times.

Truth be told, ever since border states began shipping illegals/migrants to ostensible “sanctuary cities” like Chicago, there have been constant problems in the city.

In July, for example, residents in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood called the police to investigate after they were allegedly assaulted by migrants staying at a nearby school building.

“I’m asking and calling for the federal judge to speed up the process of the asylees. There’s no way they should be able to take Woodlawn, this community, under house arrest and make residents afraid to even come out and enjoy this sunshine and this fresh air like we do,” one resident said, as reported by WFLD.

There have also been some cases of migrants being robbed by actual Chicago citizens, though these cases have been rare. In one case reported in July, two migrant men were separately attacked near shelters.

“Police said the first incident happened in the 2000 block of South Racine Avenue around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday, where a 25-year-old man said he was walking down the street when five unknown offenders got out of a dark blue Hyundai Elantra, pulled out a handgun and demanded his personal property,” WGN reported at the time.

“The second incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of South Calumet Avenue. Police said a 35-year-old man was walking down the street when a vehicle pulled up and two unknown offenders got out before hitting the victim and taking his personal property. The offenders then fled and the victim refused medical attention.”
