Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts chastised the leftist judges sitting on the high court Friday, warning them against dissenting opinions that denigrate the court when they don’t agree with rulings that are issued by the majority.
The spanking of liberal justices followed the Supreme Court delivering a landmark decision asserting that President Biden does not have the authority to wipe out $400 billion in student debt. The ruling asserted that the unconstitutional move was not permitted by federal law. The left had a bad week as affirmative action was also shot down and two cases passed defending the religious rights of Christians.
Roberts admonished his colleagues that it is “important that the public not be misled” concerning the decision in light of how liberal justices opposed it.
“It has become a disturbing feature of some recent opinions to criticize the decisions with which they disagree as going beyond the proper role of the judiciary,” Roberts wrote, taking direct aim at the leftist justices. He contended that the majority came to its decision by adhering to court precedent “old and new” that “requires that Congress speak clearly before a Department Secretary can unilaterally alter large sections of the American economy.”

“We have employed the traditional tools of judicial decision-making in doing so. Reasonable minds may disagree with our analysis — in fact, at least three do,” Roberts noted, referring to Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Elena Kagan, who wrote the dissenting opinion deriding the majority opinion.
The chief justice is obviously concerned with the court appearing to be divided on issues with three justices mutinying from within, questioning the authority of SCOTUS.
“We do not mistake this plainly heartfelt disagreement for disparagement,” he confusingly stated in an apparent attempt to placate the leftist justices. “It is important that the public not be misled either. Any such misperception would be harmful to this institution and our country.”
Roberts made his comments after Kagan argued in her dissent that the majority exceeded “the permissible boundaries of the judicial role” in its decision.
“From the first page to the last, today’s opinion departs from the demands of judicial restraint,” Kagan wrote.”In saying so, and saying so strongly, I do not at all ‘disparage’ those who disagree. The majority is right to make that point, as well as to say that ‘reasonable minds’ are found on both sides of this case.”
While claiming that she wasn’t taking a slap at the high court, Kagan continued to do exactly that.
Maybe Justice Elena Kagan should go back to school & learn about the responsibilities of the 3 government branches. Congress makes the law, Executive branch enforces the law (can’t make up laws) & the Justice branch interprets the law, not give rights to the wannabe dictator… https://t.co/0durf8DHG2

“And there is surely nothing personal in the dispute here. But Justices throughout history have raised the alarm when the Court has overreached — when it has ‘exceed[ed] its proper, limited role in our Nation’s governance.’ It would have been ‘disturbing,’ and indeed damaging, if they had not. The same is true in our own day,” she speciously railed, not bothering to hide her contempt for her conservative colleagues.
The back and forth is taking place as Democrats question the court’s “legitimacy” given its conservative majority. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) issued a scathing statement Friday on the issue.
The fanatical MAGA right have captured the Supreme Court and achieved dangerous, regressive policies that they could never attain at the ballot box.

“After a multi-decade, special interest-funded effort to reshape the federal judiciary, the fanatical MAGA right have captured the Supreme Court and achieved dangerous, regressive policies that they could never attain at the ballot box,” an enraged Schumer tweeted.
“This MAGA-captured Supreme Court feels free to accept lavish gifts and vacations from their powerful, big-monied friends, all while they refuse to help everyday Americans,” he claimed, according to Fox News.
Schumer then made the predictable call to pack the court and stated that “ill-founded and disappointing decisions from the Supreme Court are a stark reminder that it will take a sustained effort to rebalance our federal courts and restore the values that have made the United States a beacon for freedom, democracy, equality, and opportunity.”
