A worker at a South Carolina Chipotle location was brutally attacked by a pair of customers who reacted violently after being informed that there would be a charge for extra chicken with their meal.
In the latest incident in America’s epidemic of fast food violence, the unidentified 20-year-old employee was just doing her job on Sunday night December 10 when the normal workday routine was suddenly shattered as she informed 34-year-old Kayla Pyle that there would be an additional cost for the extra protein that she requested, reportedly leading to an argument before mayhem erupted at the outlet located at 10092 Charlotte Highway in Indian Land, an unincorporated community in Lancaster County.
According to police, Pyle and 36-year-old Jamel Bernard Williams who are both from Charlotte, N.C., showed up at the restaurant at around 9:00 p.m. and ordered their food. Soon after the employee advised of the additional cost of more chicken, things escalated quickly when the worker decided to end her shift early.

“As she headed for the door on one side of the dining room, Williams, who is listed at 6-feet, 3 inches and 300 pounds, is much larger than the Chipotle employee, entered from the other side and approached her. Deputies said he pushed her to the floor and began hitting her, pulling her hair, and jerking her around,” Queen City News reported.
“Pyle then joined in and also struck Chipotle employee, the sheriff’s office said. A teen juvenile was with Pyle and Williams, but he has not been identified and will not be charged, the sheriff’s office explained,” according to the outlet. “The two suspects left in a gray 2021 Dodge Charger and were traveling northbound toward Charlotte, and police were called.”

“The victim complained of pain but declined treatment at the scene. She sought treatment on her own after the incident. The extent of her injuries is unknown,” the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
“Dreadlocked hair that was found by deputies on the floor is said to belong to Williams, and was submitted to evidence for analysis,” the outlet reported.
“A witness got a description of the Dodge Charger the suspects left in and a tag number. Store video and video taken by a witness were also obtained. Williams and Pyle were identified with the assistance of personnel of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Arrest warrants charging Williams with Assault and Battery 1st Degree and charging Pyle with Assault and Battery 2d Degree were obtained Wednesday, December 27. The warrants are active and have been entered into the national database for wanted persons. Photographs of Williams and Pyle are attached,” the Sheriff’s Office statement read.
A “male juvenille” who was with Pyle and Williams has not been identified and will not be charged according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“I don’t know what was said between Pyle and the victim, but the victim was leaving for home and was chased down from behind by Williams and attacked in the dining room of the restaurant,” Sheriff Barry Faile said. “The assault was completely unjustified. I hope the victim has recovered from her injuries. I appreciate the help we got from Charlotte Mecklenburg PD to identify Williams and Pyle, and I encourage them to turn themselves in and let the judicial system run its course in this case.”
