Chris Christie nearly booed off the stage then gets mocked by Trump: ‘He is not a fat pig, ok?’

Longshot GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie received a rude welcome from Republican voters who loudly booed him during an appearance at the Florida Freedom Summit.

The former New Jersey governor was among the 2024 hopefuls who spoke at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee on Saturday and much to his dismay, was given a reminder that Florida is Trump country.

A one-issue candidate whose platform consists solely of trashing the former president, the ill-tempered Christie found out that his popularity doesn’t extend far beyond the television studios where he’s been a near-daily fixture since he launched his candidacy, especially in the Sunshine State.

As boos rained down on him, the pugnacious former federal prosecutor grew angry and confrontational with the audience who he angrily scolded.

“Now look, every one of those boos, everyone one of those cat calls, everyone one of those yells will not … solve one problem we face in this country,” he said. “Your anger against the truth is reprehensible.”

When you think about the problems that our country and this world is facing, when you think about that, this type of pettiness … is beneath … the process of electing a president,” Christie lectured the unforgiving crowd.

Another Trump-hating GOP candidate, no-hoper and former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson received similar treatment from the audience.

Trump, who also spoke at the event, couldn’t resist jabbing Christie which he has frequently done while frustrating greatly frustrating the not so jolly fat man who has been unable to do his human torpedo act on a debate stage as he has longed to do since before he even jumped into the race.

“I heard they booed Christie off the stage today is that true?” Trump asked. “I really say what’s he doing? Look, you know we’re all in a party, we want to win this race, what’s he doing?”

“The guy’s… he’s at one and a half ok? And how about Ada Hutchinson? You have Ada, not Asa, Ada… and I heard he got booed off…,” the frontrunner continued. “Who got more boos? Who got louder boos, Christie or Ada Hutchinson?”

“Christie,” Trump said after the audience responded. “You know I hear they virtually booed him off the stage. Because you know what’s it all about? He’s just doing it because I didn’t give him a job in the administration. What’s he doing?”

“And why would I do a debate when Christie… sir, I’m sorry,” Trump said, pointing at the audience. “He is not a fat pig ok?”

“This man, he is not a fat pig,” the former president continued. “No, it’s true, and you can’t you can’t use the term fat. You’re allowed to use the word pig, but not fat. No, the man just said he’s a fat pig and I said, ‘No, he’s not a fat pig.’ So now the press can’t kill me because all I’m doing is responding. I’m responding. He is not a fat pig.”

The deeply unpopular Christie took to X, formerly Twitter, to fume and used a clip of the booing to fundraise.

“The real problem is @realDonaldTrump and his strongest supporters fear the truth. They want to shout down any voice that’s different from what they want to hear. It doesn’t bother me one bit,” he wrote. “What does bother me is not working to solve the atrocities happening across the world.”

“Want to stand up for the truth with me? Chip in $1 here,” he added, with a link to a donation page pleading “CRITICAL ACTION NEEDED: WE NEED 80,000 INDIVIDUAL DONORS TO STAY ON THE DEBATE STAGE! CHIP IN TODAY TO KEEP GOV. CHRISTIE ON THE DEBATE STAGE.

It’s hard to say what’s more pathetic, Christie onstage or his using the humiliation to beg for money.
