Former CNN host Chris Cuomo dramatically told former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on his podcast that he had to accept being fired by CNN “because I was going to kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you.”
Cuomo, 52, was given the boot by CNN in late 2021 for advising and collaborating with his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, over how to handle a messy and embarrassing sexual misconduct scandal.
He divulged that his brother went down for “a lot of reasons,” and stressed that despite the repercussions, he will never regret helping his family.
The fallen CNN icon admitted that he has made “a lot of mistakes” and undertook therapy after being “sh*t-canned” by his CNN bosses.

“There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is unrelatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on,” he explained on the “Open Book with Anthony Scaramucci” podcast.
Cuomo found a new gig on NewsNation, but it’s not what he imagined it would be. He confessed to Scaramucci that he’s embarrassed by the tanking viewership numbers on his new show. He was aiming to woo moderates but that is not happening and they aren’t tuning in, according to The Washington Post.
“Cuomo” only garnered 147,000 viewers in his debut back in October 2022. His explosive interview with rapper Kanye West drew just 129,000 viewers.
The leftist talking head’s new show averaged approximately 63,000 viewers per night. That is a minuscule viewership compared to his old CNN show, “Cuomo Prime Time,” which averaged over a million viewers.
“At CNN and I wasn’t set up to be [No. 1]. I wasn’t the big name there, I didn’t have the big team, they didn’t do the advertising about me. But I was still No. 1. Why? Because it was the best show. Because I was giving people what they needed in that moment,” Cuomo claimed.
It’s a different story over at NewsNation. Cuomo realizes all too well his audience is “small” and “people don’t want to watch.”
“It’s hard to keep perspective on that because it’s kind of embarrassing,” he whined before lamenting to The Mooch, “I will never be [No. 1] again.”
A very “normal”#ChrisCuomo, has dramatically claimed he “was going to kill everybody,” including himself, when he was fired by #CNN. I can’t be entirely certain, but I’m thinking this could be a possible dealbreaker during his next job interview? #WhackJob #CrayCray #trending pic.twitter.com/buB9T1qaX7

“I believe that was taken, I believe wrongly. I will litigate that. I am not going to bitch about it in the press,” Cuomo asserted.
He is suing CNN for over $60 million because of his termination. The case is ongoing and dragging through the courts.
Cuomo is also mired “in litigation” with the publisher of his book, “Deep Denial,” which was canceled after he was fired.
“I’ll never be what I was,” he also told ex-New York Times scribe Charlie LeDuff and Karen Dumas on the Jan. 16 podcast of the “No BS Newshour.” “I was number one on the most powerful media platform in the world.”
He carped about not being “allowed to say goodbye to [my show’s team], an office I was never allowed to clear out,” and complained that his office supplies were sent to him “in boxes with half my sh*t broken.”
When the hosts asked whether he had more creative freedom on his new NewsNation show, Cuomo snapped that he always had “control,” but because of being bashed in the news over the last year, his “show is different.”
“I am, emotionally and psychologically beat up and changed by what I went through,” he remarked. “My show is different because I am different, not that I was in some lefty silo.”
“I’ll never be number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on some bullsh*t media power list. I’m okay with that,” he told LeDuff and Dumas.
