Chris Cuomo confesses he sometimes ‘drinks too much’ but he’s not an alcoholic

Fired CNN anchor Chris Cuomo may not be the best source to turn to when it comes to coping with the stress of life in a healthy manner.

On the other hand, given the appeal of the coping mechanism he shared on his podcast Thursday, at least in the eyes of some, his approach is sure to be popular.

Cuomo, who will return to the air next month with a new gig at NewsNation, revealed in a couch confession that he’s a “hard drinker” who sometimes drinks “too much,” explaining that this serves as a coping mechanism.

“Too often, I think, we avoid dealing with things. So here’s a little bit of my story. I take my body and — my diet can suck. I drink too much,” he said. “I’m thinking about that, mostly in terms of why I drink too much. I’m probably what people in the sobriety community would call a ‘normie’ but a hard drinker.”

“I drink often and I definitely think it’s not always for the right reason,” Cuomo continued. “I think it’s to settle my mind. I think it’s to deal with emotions.”

Referencing his mental health, the liberal talking head who sued CNN for $125 million assured listeners that he doesn’t have a drinking problem.

“I’m not saying I’m an alcoholic,” Cuomo said. “I don’t believe in abusing those terms, but it’s something I’ve had to think about, and it’s something that I am thinking about and it’s something that I’m dealing with because my mental health has become an increasing aspect of my self-concern about how I can be my best. I really believe that, you know, where your head is, is where your life goes.”

While his podcast ratings are less than desirable, according to the New York Post, Cuomo talked about a desire to “build something special” with his upcoming new television show.

“I’m going to come to NewsNation and I want to build something special here,” he said in July.

Social media users were a little skeptical about Cuomo’s couch confession, suggesting that much like the river in Egypt, denial runs long and deep.
