Christian refugee from Chinese Communist gives dire warning on left’s playbook: similarities ‘very, very striking’

A Christian refugee who escaped Chinese persecution to become an American issued a dire warning about the nation’s descent into a “communist-style of governance” and provided receipts.

Born in China, Bob Fu was once imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for leading an unregistered Christian congregation. Having escaped China in 1996 after being a university student leader during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, Fu would go on to found ChinaAid, a Christian nonprofit providing support and legal aid to persecuted Chinese.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, the naturalized American citizen expressed his concern over witnessing the “dictatorial” measures that Western governments have employed against churches.

“The similarities are very, very striking between the Chinese Communist way of persecution and the American leftist way of restriction and even discrimination,” he said. “It is very shocking and horrible to see American society’s transformation evolving from its constitutional basis.”

“They only have one playbook. I saw the governor of California basically prescribe and order the church to shut down and say not only when they can worship, but how,” the nonprofit president recalled. “The ways that he threatened to punish those churches and pastors sometimes were word-for-word exactly the same as what the CCP is using against the Chinese churches.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) was one of the more notorious hypocrites throughout COVID lockdowns, having been caught partying at The French Laundry while others were forced to shut their businesses. As Fu suggested, churches were included on Newsom’s list of “non-essential businesses” in 2020 and his drawn-out disregard for First Amendment rights left him on the hook for a $1.35 million settlement with one of the churches he had violated the religious freedoms of.

Similarly, Fu called out then-Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D) who had gone as far as to threaten to shut off utilities for locations that violated lockdown orders, all while ignoring Black Lives Matter protesters as local leaders across the country had.

Then-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) had even threatened to permanently shutter houses of worship that went against his orders and had said in March 2020, “If you go to your synagogue, if you go to your church and attempt to hold services after having been told so often not to, our enforcement agents will have no choice but to shut down those services.”

“Guess what? That’s exactly the same tactic, word-for-word, that the Communist Party has issued over the years against the churches,” Fu said of the threat to utilities.

“There is a major spirit of similarities against God’s church. Suddenly mayors and governors become little emperors. They think their power is above the authority of God and over the church,” he expressed. “They want to be the manager of the church, they want to tell you when and how to worship.”

The Christian leader also pointed out how the problem was not unique to American leaders as Canada too appeared under the thumb of “communist-style” rule. Numerous pastors like Artur Pawlowski were repeatedly jailed for striving to keep his Calgary church open throughout COVID.

“In front of the camera, the police would invade a church during the Sunday worship, kick out all the believers and basically push the pastor away from the church building and then shut down the whole church,” Fu reminded.

More recently, Pastor Derek Reimer, also of Calgary, had been arrested twice, and remained in prison as of Wednesday, according to Fox News, for protesting a drag queen story reading event for children at a public library. Lacking the same First Amendment rights in Canada, Reimer was allegedly found to be in violation of a release order that “prohibited him from communicating with self-identified LGBTQ people.”

“So, that is happening now. I think the church in the West has to be prepared for something like this to happen and maybe happen more,” Fu explained before also pointing out the complicity of corporate media.

“There are so many unprecedented things that really break my heart. I feel America is descending into a Chinese communist-style of governance. The media propaganda is exactly the same as in communist China, where I was born and educated in the trend,” he said, describing them as “the mouthpiece of one party, one ideology, by twisting and even lying and using all their so-called reports to promote one ideology.”
