Political talk show fixture Chris Christie was back at it on Sunday morning, ripping into former President Donald J. Trump on Fox News as he continues to careen around on television like a human wrecking ball with his sole mission being to take out the 2024 GOP frontrunner no matter how much collateral damage that he inflicts on the party’s hopes of retaking the White House.
The former New Jersey Governor appeared on “Fox News Sunday” where he railed against Trump and defended the viability of his candidacy to anchor Shannon Bream, insulting his former political ally and scoffing at estimates of the size of the crowd who turned out to hear him speak at a massive Fourth of July weekend rally in Pickens, South Carolina last Saturday.

First, Bream started with a “reality check” on the bloviating ABC News political pundit’s horrific poll numbers, currently at just one percent in a Fox News poll, also bringing up a recent magazine article stating that there is a “lack of demand” for his candidacy. But Christie shrugged it off, with his real job being torpedoing Trump, not actually winning.
“We’re in this to win,” he said, promising some upcoming announcements that “there is a broad and wide demand for our candidacy and quite frankly, what the demand is for is for the truth. The people in the Republican Party and quite broadly across America are tired of having political candidates who are snake oil salesmen who just don’t tell them the truth.”
“Who tell them whatever they think they want to hear at the moment and then don’t fulfill any of those promises,” Christie added. “They’ve lived that in the Republican primary, I was there in 2016 when Donald Trump said he was gonna repeal and replace Obamacare, failed to do it. When he said he was gonna build a big beautiful wall across the entire border of Mexico and that Mexico was gonna pay for it, we’ve got a quarter of a wall and not one peso from Mexico…,” he rambled on, also tossing in a Democrat talking point that Trump’s a Putin puppet.
Bream then asked, “You’ve said that President Trump, quote ‘doesn’t give a damn about the American people,’ Millions of them think he is the only guy out there fighting for them, that is their perception. Tens of thousands of them show up at each of his campaign stops so do you really think you could convince those folks otherwise?”
Christie then turned to the size of the crowd of tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans who turned out to hear Trump speak on a broiling hot South Carolina day, claiming that they were wildly overblown.
“Well first of all, tens of thousands don’t show up anymore, that’s another one of the real big lies that happen…,” Christie replied.
Bream then pointed out, “Pickens, South Carolina, just a week or so, it’s a town of maybe 3,500 people, and local estimates, their authorities, their officials, police and stuff there, they said 50,000 people potentially,”
“Look all you have to do is look at the pictures, and realize Shannon, that 50,000 is absurd,” huffed Christie. “But I’m not going to get into an argument about that.”
Christie’s claims don’t pass the smell test with people who were actually on the ground in Pickens with the Greenville News reporting that the town’s police chief put the number at 50,000, short of what Trump claimed but still not the “absurd” number that the flailing candidate portrays it as.

“No way it was less than 50,000,” said Pickens Police Chief Randall Beach.
Trump took to Truth Social to share a message appearing to be from Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) that also shows that Christie is likely just blowing hot air.

“He lied about the farm deal with the Chinese,” the former governor continued. “They haven’t even complied with a quarter of what they agreed to Donald Trump to do in terms of buying soybeans and other things from the farmers in Iowa. And he spent the rest of the time talking about his own indictment. This is not somebody who’s fighting for the American people and their future. This is all about his ego.”
Christie’s numbers may not get much better because, while he is clearly the favorite of Never Trumpers and the media, his complete lack of a positive vision for the country isn’t fooling anyone and the American people can see that he’s nothing more than a hired gun.
