Still smarting from the electoral spanking they received in November, Senate Democrats are looking to exact revenge by sinking some of President-elect Donald J. Trump’s key nominees, including Pete Hegseth who has been tapped as his Defense Secretary.
The confirmation hearings for the Fox News host are set to commence on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, and Democrats are readying their usual sleazy sex smears for vicious attacks designed to grab attention in the media where their allies in newsrooms will do their part. It’s a familiar playbook, with the sliming of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh being one prime example.
On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) prepped the battlefield by bringing up salacious manufactured scandals about Hegseth that were the center of media attacks after Trump announced his nomination.

We all have read reports about his radical views, his alleged excessive drinking, the allegations about sexual assault…He can expect his hearing to be tough, but respectful. Candid but fair.” pic.twitter.com/usEY5iR6XW

“Mr. Hegseth’s background is deeply troubling, to put it generously. We all have read reports about his radical views, his alleged excessive drinking, the allegations about sexual assault…He can expect his hearing to be tough, but respectful. Candid but fair,” said the New York City Democrat.
But behind closed doors, Schumer was far more honest in admitting that the roughing up of Trump’s nominees is rooted in political reprisals.
“Republicans spent four years attacking the Democratic brand and we need to use the hearings to begin returning the favor,” Schumer told top Democrats in a private meeting earlier this month, according to Axios.
One prominent Democrat senator, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren is already on the warpath and launched the party’s opening salvo on Hegseth.

“I have serious concerns about your qualifications to serve in this role given your past history, including mismanagement of two non-profit organizations you ran, accusations of sexual assault and drinking problems, your blatant disregard for the contributions of female servicemembers, support for war crimes and torture, threats to politicize the military, advocating for ‘war’ against political enemies, threats to undermine DoD readiness and diversity, and contempt for veterans receiving benefits they earned,” the faux Indian wrote in a letter to the nominee.
“Your confirmation as Secretary of Defense would be detrimental to our national security and disrespect a diverse array of service members who are willing to sacrifice for our country,” Warren said.
Among Warren’s complaints was Hegseth’s Christian tattoo, another example of the Democratic Party’s contempt for religion.
If he emerges from the Democrat media smear campaign, Hegseth will be taking a massive pay cut to head up the Pentagon.
According to financial disclosures reported by the Washington Post, Hegseth made $4.6 million over the last two years as a host on Fox News.
In addition, he banked “around $900,000 in speaking fees at nonprofits, political action committees and other organizations that promote conservative policies and politics,” according to the financially troubled newspaper.
“He will be ripped, he will be demeaned, he will be talked about, but we’re going to get him across the finish line,” vowed Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) on Monday.
