Clown show: Dem rep on mission to fund female test dummies to fight crash safety inequity

Democrat lawmakers are determined to prove that they just aren’t serious people who are interested in addressing the problems that ordinary Americans face and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) showed just how disconnected the left-wing party’s congressional contingent is from the reality-based world.

On Thursday, the House Committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development hosted Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who was there to defend the funds for his agency in the White House’s budget request for the 2024 fiscal year, including $20 million to develop gender-specific crash test dummies, a peculiar priority considering the deteriorating condition of the nation’s infrastructure, serious supply chain issues and a spate of train derailments, including the one that poisoned East Palestine, Ohio with hazardous chemicals.

During the hearing, Rep DeLauro, the pride of Connecticut’s heavily Democratic 3rd Congressional District where she has been ensconced for over three decades, gushed over former Mayor Pete’s efforts to ensure that the DOT does its part in the battle against “gender inequity” by allocating scarce resources for female crash test dummies.

“You also plan to make important investments to address the roadway safety crisis,” DeLauro told Buttigieg, “including the critical funding that would accelerate the development, and this is an area I’ve written to you about, of the use of female dummies in crash testing.”

“This will start to fight the gender inequity among vehicle safety and crash victims,” she said.

DeLauro’s detachment from reality didn’t go unnoticed by Twitter users who flogged the purple-haired Democrat.

DeLauro isn’t the only Democrat with batty, identity-based ideas on what the transportation secretary should be focusing on. The Congressional Black Caucus, an exclusionary bunch of pampered whiners, called for the former mayor of the smallish midwestern college town – whose main qualification for the important job was being openly gay- to devote his attention and resources to fighting what they described as “racist traffic enforcement” in a letter written earlier this month.

“This is not a new phenomenon. Historians have traced the roots of policing Black mobility and physical freedom to our nation’s legacy of slavery and bondage of black bodies,” the letter reads.”

It is critical that the Department of Transportation recognizes the social context of traffic enforcement disparities and identifies solutions to redress the harms,” the CBC lawmakers wrote.

It’s hard to imagine a bigger clown show than the modern version of the Democratic Party but nobody should be laughing.
