CNN correspondent grills Dems on Biden’s tragic poll numbers: ‘I think the people have basically spoken’

Following dismal CNN political poll results on Thursday that pointed to potential disaster for President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, the network’s chief congressional correspondent Manu Raju took to the hallways of Congress and got the reactions of “over a dozen” Senate Democrats.

As CNN anchor Dana Bash said on Thursday, “There’s no way to spin this.”

“I think the people have basically spoken loud and clear,” Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) told Raju. “They’re not happy with the two choices — and only choices.”

He declined to predict whether there could be a third-party candidate.

CNN reported on Thursday that “Biden’s performance in office and on where the country stands are deeply negative in the new poll.”

“His job approval rating stands at just 39%, and 58% say that his policies have made economic conditions in the US worse, up 8 points since last fall,” the poll revealed. “Seventy percent say things in the country are going badly, a persistent negativity that has held for much of Biden’s time in office, and 51% say government should be doing more to solve the nation’s problems.”

“The more the better in terms of pushing that message and making the American people aware of President Biden’s achievements,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.). “Yes, more aggressive, earlier, and more widely I think is the right way to go.”

“Maybe we don’t do a good enough job messaging about things like the infrastructure bill and the PACT Act and things like that,” offered Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).

Considering how the mainstream media gushes over anything President Biden does — even if it’s sunbathing and eating ice cream — it’s hard to imagine that better messaging would solve his campaign problems.

“[N]early half of registered voters (46%) say that any Republican presidential nominee would be a better choice than Biden in 2024,” CNN reported on Thursday.

And despite the fact that CNN found, “There is no clear leader in a potential rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump, who is widely ahead in the GOP primary,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) remains convinced that an”Orange Man Bad” mentality will pull Biden over the finish line.

“I think every time Donald Trump opens his mouth, he draws that contrast pretty starkly,” she told Raju.

On X, Biden supporters are now turning against CNN.

“Your poll is extremely flawed!!” exclaimed one user. “Read the fine print of it! Asking questions to members of Congress about that survey must be ignored! Disappointed in your dishonesty!”

“If only we had some sort of a mass communication infrastructure that would, I don’t know, ask our country’s leaders more substantive and informative questions than ‘how about Biden’s poll numbers?'” said another. “Just a wild idea I had.”

“Media never reports good news for dems without blaming them for something else,” whined a third.

The cognitive dissonance is, frankly, astonishing.

“It’s not a messaging problem, it’s a *media* problem,” claimed one X user. “The gatekeepers who decide what gets emphasized and what gets downplayed have made their decision – Biden bores them & doesn’t make them enough money, so they’re all in on Trump even if it destroys democracy.”
