Congresswoman compares migrants who ‘cross our border illegally’ to Russians invading Ukraine

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) triggered leftists on Thursday when she compared millions crossing our southern border illegally to the number of Russians who have invaded Ukraine, making the point that President Biden is far more interested in Ukraine’s border than America’s.

“We had 5 million people cross our border illegally since Joe Biden took office,” Greene noted.

“And let’s compare that to how many Russians have invaded Ukraine: 82,000 Russians have invaded Ukraine. I think the American people and the taxpayers of this country deserve to know why the Biden administration and this Congress is so interested in funding the protection of Ukraine’s border and not the protection of our border. That’s a very good question,” she stated while the media did its level best to take her comments out of context to gin up outrage.

Greene explained that taxpayers want to know where their money is going as Biden sends billions and billions to the conflict in Ukraine while ignoring the chaos on our southern border entirely.

She claimed that Biden is “ignoring the dangers happening at our border and the national security crisis that’s happening in our country” and is instead focusing on “completely protecting another country’s border.”

She also brought up the implosion of the cryptocurrency company FTX, whose disgraced CEO funneled millions to Democrats in the midterm elections.

“Is American people’s tax dollars going to fund aid in Ukraine but it’s really funding something else?” Greene asked during the press conference, igniting a firestorm on the left.

As she asked a question that millions of Americans are pondering, leftist critics pounced online, savaging her in outrage that she would dare question Biden pouring billions into Ukraine. Once again, they accused Greene of being in the bag for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Even Margarita Simonyan is watching this and thinking: damn, girl, slow that one down a tad,” wrote military strategist Tom Nichols.

“The stupidity of comparing a military invasion of a country with people fleeing their countries,” journalist Morton Overbye tweeted.

“She’s likening illegally crossing the US border in search of a better life (which is only a misdemeanor, btw) to launching an unprovoked, full-scale military invasion of another country to commit war crimes and conquer its land/people,” Insider’s John Haltiwanger declared.

This comes as House Republicans introduced a privileged resolution on Thursday to audit the funds allocated by Congress, according to The Hill. Greene is introducing the resolution and it is backed by a group of GOP lawmakers.

The Biden administration has forked over more than $20 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, as well as $10 billion in humanitarian assistance and roughly $13 billion in economic assistance.

Now, Biden is calling for Congress to earmark $37.7 billion in additional funding at a time when the US is suffering under crushing inflation and economic hardship.

Greene asserted that she is prepared to reintroduce the resolution in the next Congress when Republicans hold the majority.

“I’ll introduce this resolution again, but I’ll also be calling for a full audit. We voted ‘no’ to send money over there, but we’re also going to audit what’s happening in Ukraine,” she announced.

“You’ve heard Leader McCarthy say publicly that he doesn’t see very good odds for much funding for Ukraine going forward in a Republican-controlled conference,” Greene said.

Co-sponsors of the bill include GOP Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL), Barry Moore (AL), Andrew Clyde (GA), and Thomas Massie (KY).
