A city councilman in an affluent Chicago suburb stated that he is against using taxpayer dollars to house the illegal migrants who continue to flood the Windy City area and suggested that those in his district who are pushing for the burbs to do more should sign up to house the asylum-seekers and their families in their “big homes.”
“In light of the fact that I’m not going to support using other people’s money to house or aid, I do know that there’s a lot of people that do care,” Naperville City Councilman Josh McBroom said at the Tuesday night meeting, “and I think we live in a compassionate community. So before we go down the road of filing suit on some of these other cities or taking action, my idea would be, let’s find out. Let’s find out who’s willing to help.”
As BizPac Review has reported, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has continued bussing migrants from his overwhelmed state to the self-proclaimed “sanctuary city” of Chicago, despite pleas for mercy from both Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

“You are now sending asylum seekers from Texas to the Upper Midwest in the middle of winter — many without coats, without shoes to protect them from the snow — to a city whose shelters are already overfilled with migrants you sent here,” Pritzker wrote in a scathing letter to Abbott earlier this week. “Chicago’s temperatures this weekend are forecast to drop below zero. Your callousness, sending buses and planes full of migrants in this weather, is now life-threatening to every one of the arrivals. Hundreds of children’s and families’ health and survival are at risk due to your actions.”
“I plead with you for mercy for the thousands of people who are powerless to speak for themselves. Please, while winter is threatening vulnerable people’s lives, suspend your transports and do not send more people to our state,” Pritzker concluded.
Chicago attempted to slow the stream of busses from Texas by tightening restrictions on “when and where migrant drop-offs could take place,” the Chicago Tribune reports. “To skirt the regulations, buses began unloading at suburban Metra stations, leaving migrants to go the rest of the way to Chicago by train.”
“As of Wednesday, six buses carrying migrants have stopped at Naperville’s downtown Metra station since Dec. 21, according to city spokeswoman Linda LaCloche,” according to the outlet.
“We do hear from constituents on both sides of this: ‘What are we going to do to preemptively stop this?'” McBroom told the Naperville City Council. “Then we hear from people who tell us we should do more.”
“We do have a very affluent community. A lot of big homes,” he noted. “What I’d like to do is direct staff to create a sign-up sheet for individuals that would be willing to house migrant families. And if there’s people that would do that, God bless them. So if we could raise awareness in that way, I think we need to find out. I think we need to find out who would be willing to house migrant families.”
Naperville City Councilman @Joshmcbroom just solved the “burden” (@ChicagosMayor‘s word) of migrants brought to Chicagoland: a sign-up list.
Surely, the compassionate “no person is illegal” residents of Naperville and surrounding suburbs will live their values; be the change. pic.twitter.com/72pP2KeppX— Dan Proft (@DanProft) January 17, 2024
According to Zillow, the average price of a home in Naperville is more than a half-million dollars. Sprawling mansions are not uncommon.

“Is he the first name on the signup list?” one user asked of McBroom.
“You’re missing the point,” replied Republican Chicago talk radio host and former gubernatorial candidate Dan Proft. “It’s a polite challenge to the Chardonnay Antifa in town. Listen closely.”

And, with that, a new phrase was coined:

That’s an awesome description of them.

Others were quick to catch McBroom’s droll intent.
“PLENTY of roomy homes in and around downtown Naperville,” one user enthusiastically agreed. “Hell, maybe the good natured and compassionate lefty’s can treat their migrant guests to a grilled cheese from Everdines!”

“How many white liberal wine moms signed up?” one user asked. “Oh wait, none.
“This guy is awesome.”
