Cruz hammers Garland over excessive force against pro-lifer but not leftists firebombing pregnancy centers

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tore into Attorney General Merrick Garland, savaging him for siccing two dozen FBI agents on Catholic pro-life activist Mark Houck in front of his wife and seven children while allowing leftist terrorists who firebomb pregnancy centers to walk free.

“We’ve also seen across the country violent attacks at these pregnancy centers by similar leftwing terrorist groups including one graffiti of a fire-bombed building that said ‘Jane was here!’ There have been attacks all over the country. And yet, the Department of Justice has not brought these violent criminals to justice,” Cruz angrily pointed out.

“You contrast that… if you’re a violent criminal and you attack a pregnancy crisis center that is not a priority in the Biden Department of Justice. Contrast that to Mark Houck, who’s a pro-life activist, he’s a sidewalk counselor and he had an altercation with someone, who allegedly interfered with his son’s personal space and threatened his son and he pushed him,” the senator continued.

“Now, in an ordinary world, pushing someone would be maybe a simple misdemeanor assault, but not under the Biden Department of Justice. If you’re a pro-life activist what can you expect? Well, in this instance, according to Mr. Houck’s wife, two dozen agents clad in body armor and ballistic helmets and shields and a battering ram, showed up at his house, pointing rifles at his family,” Cruz noted.

Cruz was incensed by the overkill of sending two dozen FBI agents to Houck’s home who terrorized the Christian family.

“Why do you send two dozen agents in body armor to arrest a sidewalk counselor who happens to be pro-life, but you don’t devote resources to prosecute people who are violently firebombing crisis pregnancy centers?” he asked Garland.

“It is a priority of the department to prosecute and investigate and find the people who are doing those firebombings. They are doing it at night, in secret and we have found one group which we did prosecute…” Garland started to answer.

The Texas senator wanted to know just how many leftist terrorists the Department of Justice has found.

“You found one. How many have there been? How many attackers?” Cruz interjected.

“There have been a lot and if you have any information specifically as to who those people are, we would be glad to have that,” Garland waspishly snapped.

Then Cruz demanded accountability from Garland and an apology to Houck’s family.

“Let me ask you something. Did you personally authorize 20 agents going to Mr. Houck’s house? And he offered to turn himself in through counsel but you didn’t want that. The Department of Justice wanted to make a show of it. Did you personally authorize it and do you want to apologize to Mrs. Houck and her seven children for being terrorized?” Cruz hotly demanded of Garland.

“The decisions about how to do that are made at the level of FBI agents on scene and…” Garland stumbled.

“Did you know about it?” Cruz asked again.

“I did not know about it until… the way you are describing it and my understanding is the FBI disagrees with that description,” Garland weaselly responded.

Senator Mike Lee of Utah (R) also had a similar exchange with Garland on the same issue.

But don’t worry, Garland has put the “full resources” of the Department of Justice and the FBI on the case. “We have top men working on it right now.”

“Top men.”
