Elaine Luria, the former Democratic congresswoman from Virginia, was ambushed about insider trading by a man who reportedly asked her to pose for a selfie.
As seen in the video below, while posing with Luria, the man suddenly asked, “Elaine Luria, how much money did you make insider training?”
Keep in mind, the Democrat has said of the push to ban members of Congress from stock trading, “This whole concept is bullsh*t.”
“Your net worth went over, over 2000%,” the unidentified man continued, as Luria beat a hasty retreat without comment. “It’s a shame. You’re so corrupt.”

“How do you explain that to the American citizen? How do you explain it, Elaine Luria? You were in Congress for four years, and your net worth went over 2,000%. Explain that, Elaine Luria. Explain it,” the man pressed.
Luria served four years in Congress, from Jan. 2019 to Jan. 2023. She was defeated by incumbent U.S. Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-Va.) and is running in the Democratic primary in the hope of flipping the seat back.
Open Secrets shows that Luria’s net worth in 2018 was $8.5 million, and Fox News noted, “No major controversies over a spike in her personal finances during her time serving in Congress have been reported on.”
However, Quiver Quantitative placed Luria’s net worth at $22 million in 2021.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
Most likely she took the pelosi how to get rich in congress course.

That’s why she wants to run again, to enrich herself some more!

Clearly, she’s a financial genius. If she truly wanted to help the ‘little people’ she’d teach them how she did it so they too can become wealthy.

Sounds like she discovered the “Congressional treasure map” and forgot to share the X marks the spot.

Embarrassed to admit she’s former Navy. Even worse, she was on one of my ships (not at same time).
