A House Democrat revealed his ignorance with what he thought was a criticism of President Donald Trump’s administration.
In his fervor to dunk on the president, Rep. Mike Levin, D-California, made an error that showed he clearly didn’t know what he was talking about. More specifically, he tried to castigate Trump for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool facelift rather than “prioritizing” cleaning national parks.
Look:
The next time you pull up to a national park and pay the entrance fee, know this:
Our parks have $23 billion in repairs that have never been made.
But instead of prioritizing that our national parks are clean, maintained, and ready for your next visit, the President is…

“The next time you pull up to a national park and pay the entrance fee, know this: Our parks have $23 billion in repairs that have never been made. But instead of prioritizing that our national parks are clean, maintained, and ready for your next visit, the President is spending some of the money on vanity projects like painting the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool blue,” he wrote.
There’s just one glaring problem with his assessment: The reflecting pool is, in fact, part of the National Park Service.
X users dogpiled Levin’s post:
It is not that he is prioritizing that. The estimate asked by the park service was 300 million to do the pool but we know that all would have been wasted well before the pool was done, our current @POTUS found a crew to do it for around 3 million. Thank the president for saving…

It is not that he is prioritizing that. The estimate asked by the park service was 300 million to do the pool but we know that all would have been wasted well before the pool was done, our current [president] found a crew to do it for around 3 million. Thank the president for saving the American taxpayers. Now we have more fund for the parks. Imagine [Levin] how much funds we would have once we stop the waste, fraud and abuse. What is your plan for helping?” one user asked.
The reflecting pool is part of the national park system.
Your argument is invalid.

Democrats sent out $90 billion in “climate change” funding to NGO’s after they lost the presidential election.
Why didn’t you fund the repairs?

So you’re mad we aren’t maintaining NPS holdings and your example is maintenance of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pond which is part of the National Mall And Memorial Parks Unit of NPS? Should we just leave at as a putrid stink slime hole then? pic.twitter.com/aUKJujl5jC

You do understand that the Lincoln Memorial is a part of the National Park Service, don’t you?
