Dem lawfare king wants entire Virginia state government to be abolished

Democrats are not reacting well to the Virginia Supreme Court’s scuttling of their gerrymandering scheme, and the party’s lawfare king is now suggesting that the state’s entire government should be abolished.

The effort to permanently redistrict Republicans out of political power in Virginia, ala California, was set to go live for the midterms until Old Dominion’s highest court yanked the rug out from under them, ruling that the amendment that was narrowly approved by voters last month violated the state constitution through the process it was placed on the ballot.

A weeklong temper tantrum ensued, and now leftist legal eagle Marc Elias seems to think that an appropriate remedy could be blowing up the Virginia state government as a response to a failed power grab that didn’t go the party’s way.

In a Tuesday post to X, the Democrat legal eagle shared an excerpt from the Virginia state bill of rights that will no doubt add more fuel to the fire.

“Whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, a majority of the community hath an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter, or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public weal,” he wrote, cherry picking from the document’s text.

Not that another example of the Democratic Party’s disdain for longstanding norms and institutions that don’t bend to their will was needed, but Elias served it up anyway.

Elias’ post comes after it was reported that in a private call in which House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was a participant, the idea of tossing out the entire Virginia Supreme Court was floated.

For now, Virginia Democrats have chosen a less revolutionary course of action and are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to restore their new partisan map.
