Dem lawmaker walks back call for Trump to be ‘eliminated’ but few are buying it

A Democrat lawmaker who appeared to encourage the assassination of former President Donald J. Trump walked back his remarks after fierce criticism over his saying the quiet part out loud.

During a Sunday appearance on former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s MSNBC show, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) was in the midst of a standard boilerplate rant when he capped it off by saying that the opposition party frontrunner had to be “eliminated,” a word that only underscores the modern left’s philosophy that violence is acceptable when it comes to the political opposition of the Democratic Party.

“His rhetoric is really getting dangerous. More and more dangerous. And we saw what happened on January 6th, when he uses inflammatory rhetoric. Now, in his recent Truth Social posts, is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone uh, that, might be trying to work in government – and, it is just unquestionable at this point that that man can not see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated,” Goldman told Psaki.

Goldman’s suggestion that there may be only one certain way to get rid of Trump as a threat to Democrats’ control of the White House sparked an intense backlash, so much so that the filthy rich heir to the Levi Strauss family fortune desperately tried to put the toothpaste back into the tube, taking to X to claim that he didn’t really mean what he clearly said.

“Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again,” Goldman wrote. “While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words.”

X users weren’t buying Goldman’s apology, especially considering his party’s recent history of dangerous rhetoric and the violent acts of leftists whose buttons get pushed by Democrat politicians and their stooges in the media.

“Democrats have been calling for violence against President Trump and his supporters since 2016,” Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung told Fox News Digital. “This is not new or surprising rhetoric.”
