With 81 Republicans voting with their Democrat colleagues to block a Trump-supported effort to defund the rogue National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which was defined as a “complete betrayal” by The Heritage Foundation, the GOP continues to prove that there is but one “uni-party” in DC.
Funding a largely Democrat-staffed body that’s been routinely used “to delegitimize the Republican party,” according to Heritage, as well as to censor conservative voices, has added fuel to the fire centered around nuking the zombie filibuster and getting on with the business of saving America from the radical left.
President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly called on the GOP-led Senate to “terminate” the filibuster, reminding the timid party that Democrats will do so first chance they get.
Social media user Eric Daugherty highlighted one such case to declare: “Conservatives are demanding the Senate GOP GET MOVING on nationwide voter ID, citizenship, mass mail-in ballots and other issues supported by 80% of the American public. Election Day is in 291 days. NUKE THE FILIBUSTER. Listen to Trump. Get it DONE.”

Daugherty also highlighted an interview featuring Sen Mike Lee (R-Utah), saying that if “the Senate GOP gets tough and enforces EXISTING rules, the MAGA agenda can be passed with a simple majority of *51 votes*.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) has shown no willingness to nuke the filibuster. Thune has been under fire from Scott Presley, who launched a campaign two weeks ago to get the GOP leader to commit to passing the SAVE Act, which would ensure that ONLY American citizens vote.
I’ve asked him for 15 days.
I’ve emailed his scheduler.
I’ve emailed his legislative director.
I’ve even showed up — respectfully — to his DC office.
Why does Senator Thune refuse to allow a vote on the SAVE Act? pic.twitter.com/nyCMuSBV6h

Presley, who almost single-handedly flipped Pennsylvania in favor of Trump in 2024, said Thune “should swiftly bring forth a vote” on the SAVE Act and utilize every means to pass the bill with a simple majority vote — which would require the filibuster to be nixed.
If the SAVE Act is passed, the Democratic Party as we know it today would likely be in a world of hurt. One thing is all but certain: there is little chance the party would retake the House in November.
Yet Thune fiddles.
