Blinded ICE protester tries to flip narrative by playing victim

Anti-ICE protester Kaden Rummler is playing the victim card after being shot point-blank in the face by a federal officer.

In a classic case of FAFO, the 21-year-old sustained the injury when he appeared to charge agents as they were attempting to detain another protester — which explains why the shot was so close. Rummler told Fox 11 he was not being violent and that he was holding a bullhorn. The affiliate did not report that he was running toward the agents when they fired.

Video of the incident can be seen here:

“I will be blind for life. I have fractures in my skull that they can’t fix,” Rummler said. “They said it was a miracle I survived.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the following statement:

“On Jan. 9, a mob of about 60 rioters threw rocks, bottles and fireworks at law enforcement officers outside the federal building in Santa Ana. Two officers were injured. Two violent rioters were arrested and were charged with assault on a federal officer and disorderly conduct. This was a highly coordinated campaign of violence where rioters wielded shields. One of the rioters, who was arrested for disorderly conduct, was taken to the hospital for a cut and was released that night.

“Make no mistake, rioting and assaulting law enforcement is not only dangerous but a crime.

“Secretary Noem has been clear: Any rioter who obstructs or assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

A social media user summed the event up well while noting how the “narrative flips” after the person is injured, noting that it’s difficult to tell if Rummler is a male or a female.

“So here’s what we’re watching. A young American… I genuinely don’t know if it’s male or female. No insult intended. Nail polish, ambiguous presentation… impossible to tell. What is clear is behavior. This person is actively harassing ICE agents,” A Gene Robinson wrote.

“Advancing. Yelling. Provoking. Inserting themselves into a federal operation they have no authority over,” he continued. “They get hit in the eye with a pepper ball. Now the narrative flips. Suddenly it’s oppression. Suddenly it’s brutality. Suddenly it’s victimhood.

“No accountability. No mention of personal choice. No acknowledgment that approaching armed federal agents during an enforcement action has consequences. That’s the Democrat way,” Robinson concluded. “Provoke… Escalate… Get hurt… Rewrite the story. Chaos first. Responsibility never.”

Rummler appears to be another young American radicalized by a heavily biased, Trump-hating media. Unfortunately, this time it came with a real-life education about consequences for poor decisions, in this case psychically challenging federal agents tasked with enforcing immigration laws.

The so-called “victim” did not elicit much sympathy on social media — here’s a sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
