Democrat convicted child molester is running for mayor in Rhode Island

It seems Democrat strategist James Carville just may get his wish of running a “convicted pedophile” fulfilled after all.

“Michael English, a Democrat and a CONVICTED child molester, is currently running for mayor in Providence, Rhode Island,” Libs of TikTok posted on X.

“In 1998, English pleaded no contest to sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl. He served ONLY 15 months of a 20-YEAR sentence before being released. He then spent an additional 19 months in prison in 2009 after violating a no-contact order with the victim,” the post continued. “English does not appear on the RI sex offender registry due to his registry expiring after only 10 years.”

English, 54, pleaded no contest to four counts of first-degree child molestation, second-degree child molestation, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to The Providence Journal — English, who was 26 at the time, told the newspaper he was unaware of the 13-year-old girl’s age at the time.

“I made immature decisions that led to my arrest and a period of incarceration coupled with I dropped out of Hope High School in 1990 and, simply put, I failed to live up to my potential,” he explained in a letter announcing his candidacy.

The Democrat served just 15 months of a 20-year sentence, though he was sent back to prison for another 19 months a decade later when he was charged with violating a no-contact order relating to the victim, the Journal reported.

Carville was feeling cocky after Jay Jones won the attorney general race in Virginia last month, despite his texting that former Virginia House speaker should receive “two bullets to the head.”

“I’m personally going to find a convicted pedophile and run him in a race just to see if he could beat a Republican,” Carville said. “I’m not sure. I’m not going to say a convicted pedophile could win. And by the way, the guy who was running against him ran a pretty good campaign.”

Given the state of the Democratic Party these days, and the character of its base, social media users are predicting great success for English.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
