Democrats already accusing Trump of midterm election interference

Democrats spent years accusing President Donald J. Trump of promoting election conspiracies, but now they are preparing to do the same thing over next week’s midterms.

A Justice Department lawsuit seeking to preemptively block certification of the Alaska Senate race and Trump’s Monday Truth Social post stating that the feds will be “watching closely” in Minnesota, where former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya is the GOP candidate, have activated the tinfoil hatters.

Some are suggesting that the Alaska suit and the president’s remarks about Minnesota, as well as other election-related moves by the government, are a sign that the Trump administration is going to meddle in the election to put a thumb on the scale for Republicans.

Former Attorney General Eric Holder claimed that the Trump administration’s moves are being done with the intent of reducing Democrat voter turnout by casting doubt on the legitimacy of the system.

“They’re just throwing all of this stuff out there in an attempt to discourage people from believing in the system and trying to discourage people from coming out and registering them to vote, and then actually voting themselves,” said “Obama’s wingman” during a Tuesday appearance on CNN.

“Any of these things that they are doing could have been easily done after the election, consistent with the way in which the Justice Department normally operates,” Holder continued.

One elected Democrat went much further.

“He’s blatantly laying the groundwork to steal an election if his chosen candidate doesn’t win… Minnesota will not take kindly to thinly veiled threats from a guy we’ve rejected three times (soon to be four),” Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) wrote on X, sharing Trump’s Truth Social post.

In a Tuesday statement, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said that it was deploying a smaller army of election “observers” and lawyers for the election.

“We have grown our voter protection program, with staff based in more than 35 states to train and support election observers all across the country. The DNC’s first-ever in-house litigation team is working tirelessly to defeat attacks on our voting rights as Republicans attempt to make it harder for voters to cast their ballots and hold them accountable for their cost-raising, billionaires-first agenda,” DNC spox Angelo Fernández Hernández said.

The party’s big lawfare guns are also locked and loaded.

“If and when the election deniers in the Trump administration try similar or new tactics this fall, we will be ready to fight back and ensure that the results are certified according to the will of the voters,” said Elias Law Group senior partner Rachel Jacobs, according to The Hill.

However, the election results may preclude the coming Democrat conspiracy-mongering about Trump’s “interference” if the GOP somehow manages to eke out wins that preserve control of Congress.

Even though polls and the punditry are predicting big gains amid rising public discontent over gas prices, the Iran war, and affordability, the party has one problem, and it’s a big one: the Democrat brand still sucks.
