Democrats pile on outrage after illegal immigrants were bussed to home of VP Harris on Christmas Eve

President Joe Biden’s border crisis didn’t take a break for Christmas and as Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) continued measures to contend with the ongoing declared invasion, Democrats raged at his recent move: “Guess we know how [he]…would have treated Jesus…”

The White House may be prepared to continue ignoring illegal aliens crossing the porous U.S.-Mexico border but, for southern state leaders such as Abbott, the dangerous realities and mounting costs won’t go away by merely claiming the border isn’t open. As such, the Texas executive was believed to continue his campaign to cast light on the crisis while alleviating some of the overextended resources at home by sending another group of illegals to Washington, D.C. by bus Saturday.

ABC 7 was on the scene when the latest round of busses carrying border crossers arrived outside Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory on Christmas Eve. While a local aid group, Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network, had learned about the expected transport days earlier and prepared to render aid, White House assistant press secretary Abdullah Hasan treated the move as a complete surprise as well as a “cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt.”

In his statement, Hasan said, “Governor Abbott abandoned children on the side of the road in below-freezing temperatures on Christmas Eve without coordinating with any Federal or local authorities. This was a cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt.”

Joining in the attack was Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) who shared CNN’s coverage of the busing that made note of the 18-degree weather and tweeted, “Guess we know how Greg Abbott, a ‘practicing’ Roman Catholic, would have treated Jesus, Mary & Joseph.”

The legislator was far from alone in his criticism as Amy Fischer, one of the volunteers with the aid group, spoke to ABC 7 in the same tones and said, “It really does show the cruelty behind Gov. Abbott in his insistence on continuing to bus people here without care.”

As attention was drawn to the illegal immigrants’ lack of proper clothing such as winter coats and, in at least one case, long pants as they arrived in the nation’s capital in below-freezing conditions, no mention was made by detractors of the fact that the cold snap had struck the Lone Star State too and for days leading up to the holiday, conditions weren’t much better for many there.

Though he hadn’t taken credit for the busloads of illegals that arrived Saturday, supposedly rerouted from New York because consideration was being taken for the weather, Abbott had issued a letter to the president on Tuesday demanding Biden “step up and perform [his] constitutional duties” and placed the blame squarely with the administration.

“With cold temperatures gripping Texas,” the governor wrote, “your inaction to secure the southern border is putting the lives of migrants at risk, particularly in the City of El Paso. With thousands of men, women, and children illegally crossing into Texas every day, and with the expectation that those numbers will only increase if Title 42 expulsions end, the state is overburdened as we respond to this disaster caused by you and your administration. Your policies will leave many people in the bitter, dangerous cold as a polar vortex moves into Texas.”

Despite the facts, Democratic politicians continued to attempt to score points with attacks against the governor for his faith, including Reps. Joaquin Castro (Texas) and Ritchie Torres (N.Y.)
