Dems, media reboot ‘Signalgate’ scam in renewed effort to force Hegseth out

A renewed effort to force Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth out at the Pentagon was launched on Easter Sunday with the clear intent of seeding the week’s news cycle with claims that he improperly shared information about last month’s attack on Houthi terrorists with family members.

In a coordinated propaganda blitz led by the New York Times, CNN and Politico, the sensational claims rely on the usual anonymous sources and in the case of Politico’s, which claimed that Hegseth has caused mass discord at the Pentagon and that his departure is imminent, a disgruntled ex-employee who was recently fired by the Defense chief.

According to outlets, which reinforce each other’s reporting, Hegseth shared details of the “forthcoming strikes” on the Houthis in a “private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer,” the Times claimed, citing “four people with knowledge of the chat.”

Politico’s contribution to the propaganda operation came as an opinion piece penned by former Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot, who was asked to resign last week, one of several top aides to Hegseth to be ousted amid ongoing leaks to the media.

“It’s been a month of total chaos at the Pentagon. From leaks of sensitive operational plans to mass firings, the dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president, who deserves better from his senior leadership,” Ullyot wrote.

“President Donald Trump has a strong record of holding his top officials to account. Given that, it’s hard to see Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth remaining in his role for much longer,” the former official added.

CNN then ties the two neatly together: “The revelation comes as some of Hegseth’s closest advisers have begun sounding the alarm about the secretary’s judgment, including his former press secretary, John Ullyot, and three former senior officials Hegseth fired last week.”

The stories amount to a rebooting of the “Signalgate” scam from last month that was launched after serial fabulist and Trump-hater Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic was mysteriously allowed to eavesdrop on a private chat on the encrypted Signal app in which top Trump administration officials including Hegseth discussed the strikes against the Islamist terror group in Yemen.

Despite intense hype from the media, “Signalgate” failed to resonate with the public and soon disappeared, but as the saying goes, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again, and that’s exactly what Democrats and their winged monkeys in the media are doing.

One giveaway that the stories are fake news is the names involved, with the New York Times piece being another Maggie Haberman special and CNN’s byline including whiny left-wing activist anchor Jake Tapper, with the two having figured largely in the promotion of many of the biggest hoaxes of recent years.

The orchestrated nature of the anti-Hegseth reports was made all the more obvious with top Democrats rushing to boost the tales that support a decapitation strike at the Pentagon.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell shot down the media’s new anti-Hegseth onslaught as more of the same propaganda.

“Another day, another old story—back from the dead. The Trump-hating media continues to be obsessed with destroying anyone committed to President Trump’s agenda. This time, the New York Times — and all other Fake News that repeat their garbage — are enthusiastically taking the grievances of disgruntled former employees as the sole sources for their article. They relied only on the words of people who were fired this week and appear to have a motive to sabotage the Secretary and the President’s agenda,” he said in a statement posted to X.

“There was no classified information in any Signal chat, no matter how many ways they try to write the story. What is true is that the Office of the Secretary of Defense is continuing to become stronger and more efficient in executing President Trump’s agenda,” Parnell added. “We’ve already achieved so much for the American warfighter, and will never back down.”

Unfortunately for the scandal-mongering Democrats and their media toadies, the death of Pope Francis has already knocked their latest hoax out of the headlines.
