In a transparent effort to turn the tables on House Republicans in the court of public opinion, Hunter Biden responded to a subpoena for a deposition by instead offering to provide testimony at a House Oversight Committee hearing.
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s scoundrel of a son tried to duck his sworn deposition by instead offering to appear at a public hearing next month in what would have been a media spectacle giving him an opportunity to play for public sympathy, likely by portraying himself as a victim.
The offer came via a letter from his attorney to the committee but was rejected by Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer who accused the black sheep of the Biden family of trying to play by his own rules.
“We have seen you use closed door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public. We therefore propose opening the door,” said attorney Abbe Lowell. “If, as you claim, your efforts are important and involve issues that Americans should know about, then let light shine on the proceedings.”
But the offer was a non-starter with Comer who wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Hunter Biden is trying to play by his own rules instead of following the rules required of everyone else. That won’t stand with House Republicans.”

“Our lawfully issued subpoena to Hunter Biden requires him to appear for a deposition on December 13,” he added. “We expect full cooperation with our subpoena for a deposition but also agree that Hunter Biden should have the opportunity to testify in a public setting at a future date.”
Comer subpoenaed the younger Biden along with the president’s brother James among others earlier this month.
As is typical with the diaper-dumping Democrats, House lawmakers threw a temper tantrum with J6 committee and failed impeachment veteran Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) issuing a statement blasting Comer and GOP lawmakers.

“Let me get this straight,” Raskin said. “After wailing and moaning for ten months about Hunter Biden and alluding to some vast unproven family conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full Committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions that they pose?”
Raskin called the GOP’s not taking the bait to allow Hunter Biden to grandstand an “epic humiliation” and a “frank confession that they are simply not interested in the facts and have no confidence in their own case or the ability of their own Members to pursue it.”
The left-wing lawmaker also mocked House Republicans for the “miserable failure of their impeachment hearing in September,” as if he and his fellow Democrats didn’t partake in not one but TWO futile efforts to impeach former President Donald J. Trump, one ridiculously coming after he had already left office.
“The reason GOP don’t want a public hearing on Hunter Biden is because @OversightDems have hoisted them by their own petards in every public hearing this year,” wrote Raskin’s colleague, diva congresswoman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on X. “They’re scared of getting humiliated for not having an actual case (again), so they need to hide.”
