Dershowitz says Obama would only go to his 75th B-day party on the Vineyard if he disinvited Geraldo

Constitutional law expert Alan Dershowitz claimed that former President Barack Obama refused to attend his 75th birthday party unless he disinvited Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera from the event which was held on swanky Martha’s Vineyard.

The Harvard Law professor emeritus appeared on Monday’s edition of “The Charlie Kirk Show ” where the told the conservative commentator about how his defense of former President Donald J. Trump has impacted the way that he’s been treated by his liberal friends.

Dershowitz, who represented Trump during the first failed impeachment, told Kirk that his defending the former president has “cost me a great deal” and said that “people have lost all sense of decency when it comes to having different points of view,” referring to the current era of leftist intolerance.

As an example of how petty leftists can be, he recalled how the then-president made the exclusion of Rivera from the birthday bash in 2013 a requirement if Obama was to honor him with the gift of his presence.

“President Obama was invited and he said he would come, but then when he heard that Geraldo Rivera was invited too, basically his office said, unless you disinvite Geraldo Rivera, I’m not coming,” Dershowitz recalled.

“And I’m a loyal guy, and I said to the president of the United States no, Geraldo Rivera is coming, you can stay away, and the president of the United States stayed away from my 75th birthday because I invited Geraldo Rivera,” he said. “I would do that any day of the week.”

“I believe in loyalty. I believe in friendships. I don’t agree with Geraldo on everything… but he’s my friend, so of course I invited him to my 75th birthday and I’m inviting him to my 85th birthday,” he added.

Dershowitz will celebrate his 85th birthday on September 1.

Obama has since taken up residence at Martha’s Vineyard himself, purchasing a sprawling waterfront estate on the playground of the rich and famous, a locale that has been in headlines recently after the dead body of the ex-president’s personal chef was fished out of a pond on the property.

Rivera retired from Fox News last month, leaving his longtime gig after he was dumped from the top-rated “The Five” where he clashed with at least one of the show’s co-hosts.

Dershowitz also talked about the shunning that he now receives from friends after he defended Trump.

“My former friends on the radical left, one of them was walking yesterday on the beach and he saw me coming and he took a sharp right turn, went up to the top of the dunes, I thought he’d fall off to avoid even seeing me – and that’s the way it is today,” he said.

“And the library has canceled me, my synagogue has canceled me. The community center has canceled me. The book show on Martha’s Vineyard – I’m probably the best-selling author on Martha’s Vineyard and they canceled me,” the professor added.

“It’s just that they don’t want to hear opposing points of view – that’s not liberals – it’s called progressive, but it’s regressive,” he said.
