Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be out of the presidential race, but he’s not backing away from issues that affect the nation.
At a press conference on Monday, DeSantis spoke out in favor of four Constitutional reforms to fix much of what has gone so wrong in America.

“The incentives are designed to produce poor outcomes,” the governor said. “The incentives are designed for more debt. The incentives are designed for politicians to put themselves first. The incentives are designed to have a separate ruling class.”
“Washington’s never going to reform itself,” DeSantis said. “It’s going to require us working in our individual states using the tools that the founding fathers gave us to be able to take power away from D.C. and return it back to the American people.”
To that end, DeSantis announced, Florida’s legislature will be “certifying a series of amendments — Constitutional reforms under Article 5 of the Constitution — that will rein Washington in and that will hold Washington accountable.”
First on the list is “term limits for members of Congress.”
The second reform would require a balanced budget at the federal level.
“Right now, the incentives are to put things on the credit card,” DeSantis said. “That’s the path of least resistance. That’s how these guys stay in office longer. And who ends up with the bill? Well, it’s future generations.”
The third reform would give the President of the United States a line-item veto.
“Just think how much pork you would be able to veto out of there,” DeSantis noted. “You could save hundreds of billions of dollars just by giving that line-item veto.”
“Finally,” the Republican leader said, “we want an amendment that says very simply that Congress shall make no law respecting the citizens of the United States that does not also apply to members of Congress themselves.”
“They should not be able to exempt themselves,” DeSantis said as the crowd applauded. “They should not be able to function as a separate ruling class.”
In a separate video, he summed up the reforms Florida is certifying.
“The founding fathers never envisioned that we’d have a separate ruling class that would govern itself separate and apart from the people,” he said. “They never envisioned that they would be adding this type of debt. And they really never envisioned that people would want to be in Congress for thirty, forty years.”
Proud to announce that I am working with the FL Legislature to certify the following four constitutional amendments under Article V:

During the press conference, the governor argued that these proposed amendments are supported “across the board” by the American people.
“Republican, Democrat, Independent, male, female, black, white, it doesn’t matter,” he said — people believe in term limits and a balanced budget. They agree that Congress shouldn’t be able “to exempt themselves from laws.”
“So these are really good reforms,” DeSantis said. “It’s using the tools that the Founding Fathers gave us to be able to reclaim this government for We the People,” DeSantis said. “Because on our current course, I don’t think you’re going to see very good changes absent changing the incentives.”
Florida’s bold move under DeSantis’s leadership had many on X wishing he would get back into the 2024 race for the White House.
“DeSantis is proposing constitutional amendments this morning, while Maga is explaining how they are going to lose the general election because Taylor Swift’s boyfriend won a football game,” remarked one user.

“Imagine what he could have done as President,” one user mused. “Big mistake America, Big Mistake!”
