DeSantis delivers pro-life victory, signs 6-week abortion ban into law after libs storm state capitol

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law on Thursday the Heartbeat Protection Act, banning abortions in the Sunshine State once the unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected, roughly six weeks into the pregnancy.

The Republican-led Florida Legislature, in an overwhelming 70-40 vote, passed SB 300 as pro-abortion activists swarmed inside the Capitol building, proving once again that protesting is only an insurrection if Republicans do it.

By noon, as the vote was being debated, the galleries were cleared “due to disruptions,” according to the Daily Mail.

Demonstrators dropped handfuls of stickers advising how to obtain abortion pills through the mail down on lawmakers as they made their way into the House chamber.

Shouting and singing could be seen on videos that flooded social media.

Liberal commentator Victor Shi seemed to encourage the chaos, writing on Twitter, “If Florida does this, they, like Tennessee will unleash something they will regret. Young people will give them absolute hell.”

Undeterred, DeSantis proudly announced that he had signed the controversial act into law.

“We are proud to support life and family in the state of Florida,” he said in a statement. “I applaud the Legislature for passing the Heartbeat Protection Act that expands pro-life protections and provides additional resources for young mothers and families.”

According to the governor’s office, Florida is a “pro-family state,” and DeSantis has taken “historic” steps to care for the most vulnerable among us, both in the womb and once they are born.

“While other states like California and New York have legalized infanticide up until birth, Governor DeSantis has enacted historic measures to defend the dignity of human life and transform Florida into a pro-family state,” the statement reads. “In 2022, Governor DeSantis signed groundbreaking legislation to encourage responsible and involved fatherhood in Florida through educational programs, mentorship programs, and one-on-one support. Also in 2022, Governor DeSantis signed SB 7034, which expands support for foster parents and opportunities for foster children. In 2021, Governor DeSantis signed SB 2518, which helps reduce maternal mortality rates by extending postpartum eligibility for Medicaid from 60 days to 12 months post-delivery.”

He has included in his budget sales tax exemptions to assist new parents, dropping a mic on liberals who argue that pro-life advocates don’t do anything to help the children they save from abortions.

“In addition to legislating pro-family policies, this year’s Framework for Freedom Budget includes permanent sales tax exemptions for baby and toddler necessities, including cribs and strollers, as well as tax holidays on children’s books, toys, athletic equipment, and pet food,” DeSantis’s office states. “It includes more than $96 million to support foster parents, caregivers, and children. It also includes nearly $143 million to enhance services for pregnant and postpartum women and children, which will improve maternal health outcomes for women at high risk for maternal morbidity.”

Still, those who insist that killing babies is a fundamental right are blasting Florida for its efforts.

Vice President Kamala Harris, in a lengthy Twitter thread, called the elected Florida lawmakers “extremists,” saying the ability to silence the heart of a clearly living being denies women of “basic health care.”

“Extremists in the Florida State Legislature have officially passed a ban on abortion after six weeks – that’s before many even know they’re pregnant,” she tweeted. “Let’s be clear: This law would deny women across Florida access to basic health care.”

“These so-called leaders can’t claim to have the blueprint for freedom as they take away women’s ability to make decisions about their own bodies,” she railed.

She then ignored the Supreme Court’s decisive ruling and called on Congress to deny the Constitution and make abortion a federal matter.

“.@POTUS and I will continue to fight for freedom and liberty for all women, everywhere,” she vowed. “We stand with the majority of Americans in calling on Congress to protect access to reproductive care in all 50 states.”

But supporters of the Heartbeat Protection Act praised Governor DeSantis for following through.

“The Governor has never once hidden from his pro life stance,” wrote one user on Twitter. “He signed the Heartbeat Protection Act almost the moment it arrived at his desk. The man does what he says he’s going to do.”
