DeSantis slaps down VP’s complaints over Fla. curriculum: ‘There’s not agenda here. It is just the truth’

Striking back at the smears, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis put the latest attempt to “perpetuate a hoax” against his leadership in perspective: “There is no agenda here. It is just the truth.”

Late last week, Vice President Kamala Harris embodied the ineffectiveness of President Joe Biden’s administration with a special trip to the Sunshine State where she griped through a leftist lens about the many ways DeSantis had earned the moniker America’s Governor.

One particular complaint that corporate media clung to over the weekend was her characterization of Florida’s curriculum wanting “to replace history with lies.”

Vying to be the candidate to send her to the unemployment line and Biden to a long overdue retirement, DeSantis joined Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” Tuesday where he laid into Harris, “She hopped on that plane very quickly on Friday to come down to Florida to spew this hoax.”

That hoax, that had even gotten ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith to turn on his supposed support for a DeSantis presidency, involved Harris’ claim about Florida’s new state academic standards that ban critical race theory.

“Just yesterday in the state of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery. They insult us in an attempt to gaslight us, and we will not stand for it,” she said among a litany of other complaints while speaking in Jacksonville, Florida.

“They want to replace history with lies.”

The presidential hopeful had his own list to rattle off as he ticked off the myriad failures of the Biden administration, some of which Harris had been put directly in charge of, and slammed, “She wasn’t going down to the border to actually do the job there to secure it. She wasn’t working on all the cities that are decaying because of Soros-backed prosecutors. She’s not worried about the military running low on ammo and weapon stocks. No, she’s here to try to push a fake narrative about what Florida did.”

“There is no agenda here. It is just the truth,” he told Watters. “And they talk in gory detail a lot of the bad in American history, including, of course, the injustice of slavery. But she is trying to perpetuate a hoax.”

“I know they’re using it to attack me because Biden’s administration and Harris has been attacking me since they got in office,” the governor continued, “and they’re always attacking Florida. But, they’re really impugning the work of people like Dr. Allen who, were not involved politically, were just trying to do a good job and produced really robust standards.”

Dr. William Allen, the former chairman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and a direct contributor to the curriculum developed in Florida had previously joined Watters’ program and stated, “This curriculum is devoted to telling the truth, whereas Kamala Harris has retailed a lie.”

The source of that lie appeared to be one line from the text that stated, “Instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

“Now, it may only have been a falsehood the first time she stated it,” Allen added. “But when you repeat a falsehood, it becomes a lie.”
