Some of the greatest lies are the lies of omission, and a San Francisco-area NBC News affiliate’s refusal to honestly report an arrested illegal alien’s criminal history shows why trust in the American media has fallen to record low levels.
In another one of the sob stories that are churned out by activist media outlets to falsely portray federal immigration enforcement officers as monsters and the foreigners who are taken into custody as innocent victims, NBC Bay Area reported on the plight of a man identified as Gerardo, a 42-year-old Mexican who was arrested at his home in San Jose “while he was on his way to work.”

“According to the family’s Ring video, Gerardo was in his black truck at 7:45 a.m., about to head out to his construction job when multiple people, who appear to be federal officers, approached his truck and yelled for him to get out,” the outlet reported, adding that the illegal alien’s spouse’s daughter was struck with a baton during the incident.
“His wife, Idalia, who says she is a U.S citizen, ran to the truck to try to stop the arrest. She said a woman, not in uniform, hit her 22-year-old daughter with a baton – the incident, however, is not shown on the footage,” NBC Bay Area reported.

But nowhere in the story does it mention that Gerardo has an extensive rap sheet and is a wife-beating child molester. Relevant details that would lend important context if the media still viewed its job as being to inform the public rather than gaslight them to protect the Democratic Party and the illegal aliens whom they depend on to “win” elections.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin called out the outlet for omitting some inconvenient facts about the “undocumented father” that would cast doubt on his alleged victimhood if news consumers were presented with them.
Of course @NBCNews refuses to tell the American public that this illegal alien from Mexico has a rap sheet that includes:
-lewd and lascivious acts with a CHILD
-battery of a spouse
-domestic battery
-compensation for prostitution
-felony reentry after removal https://t.co/5ymBH8qGVZ— Tricia McLaughlin (@TriciaOhio) October 29, 2025
“Of course @NBCNews refuses to tell the American public that this illegal alien from Mexico has a rap sheet that includes: lewd and lascivious acts with a CHILD, battery of a spouse, domestic battery, compensation for prostitution, felony reentry after removal,” McLaughlin said in a Wednesday post to X.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, McLaughlin confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers took Gerardo Rojas-Leyva into custody and that the illegal alien refused to provide his identification and resisted arrest, forcing officers to “deploy a taser and handcuff him.”
“Rojas-Leyva’s criminal history includes lewd and lascivious acts with child of 14-15 years old, battery of a spouse, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant, and proving compensation for prostitution,” she said. “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”
