The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) strongly denied a New York Times report alleging that illegal aliens suffered cruelty and abuse at detention facilities and during their deportation.
On Sunday, the paper published a story featuring quotes from ten Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees who claim that they were subjected to inhumane treatment bordering on torture during their time in custody.

According to one of the Times sources, 49-year-old Cuban Leonardo Sánchez, the cuffs that he was forced to wear during a deportation flight to West Africa aggravated a medical condition from old injuries and surgeries.
“I was in pain, crying like a little kid,” he said.
“But the agents wouldn’t remove his chains or let him use the toilet, he and other detainees said. He wet himself,” the Times reported of the flight on which Sánchez and almost two dozen other illegals were passengers as they were relocated from the United States.
“When some protested, they were beaten by agents, five of the deportees said. Some were slammed to the ground or struck with blows, several said. One showed cuts along his wrists and bruises around his neck, which he said he received after resisting getting on the plane. Another said some deportees were left screaming in pain,” according to the paper.
“They didn’t treat us like people, like human beings,” Venezuelan national Carlos Téllez-Sanchez told the Times. “They can say or do anything to you and there’s nothing you can do.”
Others quoted in the Times story alleged that they were forced to undergo “psychological torture” and were held in deplorable conditions at one domestic facility, including being stuffed into a “painfully cold room” without beds that they dubbed “the freezer.”
DHS rejected the Times’ report as “GARBAGE” in a scathing post to X on Sunday.

“Another day and another hoax about ICE detention from the @nytimes. The media is clearly desperate for these false allegations to be true,” the agency wrote. “NO ONE is being tortured, denied medical care, or beaten in ICE detention facilities.”
“Make no mistake: this type of GARBAGE being peddled by the media is fueling the more than 1,300% increase in assaults against our officers, who put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent criminal illegal aliens and protect the lives of American citizens,” the DHS post read.
“While parts of the deportees’ accounts could not be independently verified, The Times was able to confirm certain details with lawyers and government officials,” the paper noted in its story, a CYA statement.
The “GARBAGE” report about alleged ICE mistreatment of detainees comes after President Donald J. Trump took a flamethrower to ace reporter “Maggot Hagerman” over her bombshell that he was skipping the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at Ground Zero because he wasn’t allowed to make a speech.
“Maggot Hagerman is a PHONY, and The New York Times knows it!” Trump said in a Friday Truth Social post, adding. “She’s been falsely writing about me for years — She’s a stalker, and should be forced to turn over any and all money that she’s made through her fake reporting on me.”
