Doctor says American Medical Association taking up ‘activist position’ on taxpayer-funded uterus transplants

Pro-transgender ideologues continue to push forward with the insistence that for all practical purposes, a boy can be a girl and a girl can be a boy, a belief that is backed by the miracle of modern medicine.

For gender activists, giving birth is the Mt. Everest of transgenderism and many medical professionals are working hard to reach this lofty peak, including the American Medical Association which backs the idea of taxpayers funding the massive bill for biological men seeking a uterus transplant, Fox News reported.

When considering the cost of such a transplant could range anywhere from $100,000 to $300,000, it’s easy to see why the group is all in here, but Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marty Makary denounces the AMA for taking an “activist position” on the transplants.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends,” Makary said the group should be more focused on research on the sorely missing long-term effects of gender-affirming treatment.

“It is odd that the AMA is choosing to really focus on this activist position rather than fund the important research we need in transgender medicine,” he said. “What’s the regret rate after transition surgery? What’s the long-term complication rate of hormones? What’s the suicide rate in people on hormones?”

“Those studies are not being done. Instead of funding those studies, they’ve chosen to take an activist position,” Makary added. “And it’s very hard to do research in this field, Ainsley, because the activists have run a lot of people out of town, that reasonable doctors and objective scientists have been run out of town. Even recently, Mayo and Jefferson have fired people over simply suggesting that we need better research.”

The AMA’s Journal of Ethics notes that having children is the goal of some biological male patients, but claims others are interested in the transplant to enhance their own femininity and “consolidate their identities.”

Makary concedes that the surgery could result in a patient who was born male giving birth to a child, but questions whether it “should” occur.

“Medically, it’s possible,” he said. “The question is, should it be done?

Makary explained that “there’s a movement where some doctors and the American Medical Association is saying people should be able to pick their gender change freely as a matter of personal choice.”

“That’s why you can walk into a Planned Parenthood as a child and walk out with a bottle of hormones,” he said. “They believe it’s the job of the medical profession to simply affirm what you want to do.”
