An outraged mother claims that she lost her job after speaking out against sexual ideology in schools, sparking Democrat activists to complain to her company that she was racist and transphobic.
Janet Roberson, who lives in Benicia, California, opposed the new sex-ed curriculum being taught to 10-year-olds in the school district and spoke out at a school board meeting, triggering a letter to her company by the treasurer for the Progressive Democrats of Benicia.
After being terminated, Roberson started a website to defend her reputation after it was trashed by leftists. She reportedly worked at Compass as an independent contractor and is claiming she was fired for her statements at the school board meeting.
Her story was shared on X by StudentsFirstCA co-founder Jonathan Zachreson on Tuesday.
“This well-mannered mom spoke at the [Benicia Unified School District] board meeting, expressing concern the new sex-ed curriculum was teaching 10 year-olds they could choose their own gender,” Zachreson wrote on X Tuesday. “Within days, a group formally affiliated with [The Democrats] contacted her work, demanded and successfully got her fired.”

Roberson’s website, beniciafreedom.org, recounts her story and links to a letter from Nathalie Christian who has “the same name as the Treasurer for the Progressive Democrats of Benicia,” according to Fox News. That letter accuses Roberson’s “agenda” of being “anti-equity, anti-trans, anti-black, and anti-choice.”
“My two cents? It seems unfair to me that Compass, whose DEI policies I have reviewed at length, would be associated with such a hateful person. As a former client of a Compass agent, I had a great experience working with the company. Because I had that personal experience and because I went through your corporate communications regarding equity and so on, I personally know Ms. Roberson’s values do not reflect the company’s values,” Christian wrote in the letter, informing the company that she was going to publish a piece about Roberson.
“But the questions I have about how Compass enforces DEI policies when someone is openly hateful like this remain. The public deserves to know how Compass can reign in someone’s internalized hate for transgender kids and equity-seeking Black Americans (and especially Black children) so Compass clients can have a fair and decent experience when buying and selling property. I shudder,” she added.
The story was picked up by Libs of Tiktok and reached the accounts of over 2 million followers, causing it to go viral.
“A mom spoke out at a school board meeting about @BeniciaUSD injecting gender ideology into the curriculum. Leftist activists were fuming and set to work tracking down her employer and destroying her life. @Compass, her employer, caved to the mob and fired her. I spoke with Janet and she shared her frustrations about what’s going on America. Her life was turned upside down but she stressed she believes parents have to stand up for whats right and protect their children. She doesn’t regret speaking out and hopes more parents join her!” Libs of Tiktok stated on X.

The alleged firing even got the attention of billionaire Elon Musk, “Compass, did you really fire this person for this reason?”

“I’m the mom of an elementary schooler, a middle schooler, and a high schooler,” Roberson’s website states. “On April 20, I spoke at a school board meeting to express my concerns about the inappropriate new sex-ed curriculum being taught to 10 and 12-year-olds. Then the bullies in town began a campaign to destroy me.”
The site lays out the timeline of events connected to Roberson’s appearance at a Benicia Unified School District (BUSD) meeting on April 20th to “disagree with the new sex-ed curriculum.”
While in front of the school board, the distraught mother informed them that children should not be forced to learn about sexual ideology in the classroom.
@Compass you say your mission is help everyone find their place in the world and yet you fire a mother for protecting her children….shameful

Janet had the courage to speak her mind, and @BeniciaUSD‘s woke mob pounced. It’s unreal how @Compass can’t see past the cancel culture noise. In a world where speaking up gets you cancelled, heroes like Janet remind us to never back down. Parents, take note & stand your ground.…

“Children are being asked to identify their pronouns and this is now part of the ten-year-old curriculum,” Roberson claimed. “This forces a gender discussion beyond the scope of the state requirements and complicates an already overburdened classroom environment.”
“We are alarmed that gender identity is now being discussed in math classes. This takes time from core learning and does not benefit the students who are in our community. Teaching kids that there isn’t standard or truth and that you can believe anything that you want to believe is not scientifically accurate or medically correct. For example, the notion that a girl can decide to be a boy, or a boy can decide to be a girl is not true and should not be taught,” she asserted.
Fox News is reporting that in another YouTube video, the mother shared what appeared to be a screenshot of an email from BUSD that includes a 5th-grade curriculum item with information on “Puberty Talk.”
Sue, the newspapers, the school board, @Compass, everyone who slandered and defamed you both organizations and individuals.

A Compass spokesperson told Fox News Digital in a statement that Roberson “was not an employee of Compass.”
“[S]he was an independent contractor who worked on an agent team, and the decision to disassociate her license was made at the request of her team leader in late April 2023,” the spokesperson asserted.
