DOGE discovers $1.9B in tax dollars ‘misplaced’ by Biden regime

The Department of Government Efficiency’s establishment wrecking crew continued its march through the executive branch unveiling another whopping sum “misplaced” under Biden.

From continuing a record of failed audits at the Pentagon to tens of billions of dollars allocated for Ukraine left unaccounted for at the same time COVID relief had been squandered to scammers, President Joe Biden’s administration presided over some of the most egregious examples of wasted spending in the history of the federal government.

Aiming to put a stop to bureaucrats treating the American taxpayers like their own personal piggybank for pet projects, DOGE’s audit uncovered yet another nearly $2 billion that had gone “misplaced” as a result of a “broken process” at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Posted to X Friday, the advisory group led by Elon Musk stated, “$1.9 billion of HUD money was just received after being misplaced during the Biden administration due to a broken process. These funds were earmarked for the administration of financial services, but were no longer needed. @SecretaryTurner and @DOGE worked together to fix the issue and de-obligated the funds which are now available for other use by the Treasury.”

The announcement came one day after HUD Secretary Scott Turner had revealed that $260 million in savings had already been identified while asserting, “We will be very detailed and deliberate about every dollar spent in serving tribal, rural and urban communities across America.”

“With President Trump’s leadership, business as usual, the status quo, is no longer the posture that we will take. And with the help of DOGE, we will identify and eliminate all waste, fraud and abuse,” added the secretary.

Unlike the pushback from entrenched paper pushers, their establishment defenders in Congress and the activist judges sought out to try and impede President Donald Trump’s executive authority while fulfilling the will of the American people, the president’s cabinet had been fully supportive of weeding out the waste.

Much like Turner’s announcement with DOGE, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin had canceled a $50 million environmental justice grant to an organization touting “climate justice travels through a Free Palestine” that had been awarded during the Biden administration.

Zeldin had also called attention to the investigative efforts of Project Veritas from late December when an EPA staffer under Biden had alleged $20 billion had been “parked at an outside financial institution” as an “insurance policy” against the Trump administration.

“This scheme was the first of its kind in EPA history,” said the administrator, “and it was purportedly designed to obligate all of the money in a rush job with reduced oversight.”

The former New York congressman went on to note the money had been awarded to eight entities who then determined which non-governmental organizations would get the funds “with far less transparency.”

With little more than 500 days remaining until the July 4, 2026 deadline to reach a goal of $2 trillion in spending cuts, the unofficial DOGE Clock purported to have reached nearly $50 billion in savings, about 2.4% of the goal, after only a few weeks on the job.

As the IRS, Department of Defense, Department of Education and others were added to the list of agencies receiving the DOGE treatment, the advisory group released a special message for St. Valentine’s Day that expressed, “Roses are red, violets are blue, Today, DOGE and 10 agencies made 586 wasteful contracts bid adieu!”

“With a ceiling of $2.1B and $445M in savings secured, A perfect Valentine’s gift for all taxpayers–well-earned and deserved!” added the post that singled out an, “$8.2M USDA contract for ‘environmental compliance services for the implementation of pilot projects developed under the partnership for climate smart commodities.”
